NEWS FROM THE PANTHER DEN
WEEK 27 EDITION
WEEK 27 REFLECTION
It was a big week for our Juniors who were able to check two things off of their "to do" list. The SAT and NJGPA are two significant items that were accomplished as they begin their post-secondary plans. Most juniors were sitting for the SAT for the first time this past Saturday, getting an initial score that will help them as they start their college search process. The NJGPA is the graduation proficiency assessment that is one of the pathways to graduation for the Class of 2026. While students wait for their scores on these assessments, I'm sure for many of them, it is reassuring to know they are accomplishing tasks on their way to their future goals.
Our teachers and students put a lot of time and effort into preparing for these assessments this week. there were a lot of things that got checked off the list so that everyone was prepared. Our AP teachers and students are reviewing their "to do" lists as they are finalizing their preparation for the upcoming AP Exams. Our spring coaches and athletes are getting ready for the start of their regular season schedules. Our actors/actresses are preparing for the Spring Musical, administrators and counselors are working on next year's schedule for teachers and students. Each group has their "to do" list of what must get done.
I make a list each afternoon before I leave of what needs to get accomplished the next day or over the course of the week. Admittedly, depending on what happens when I arrive to work, that list might get rewritten or added to before I even get started on one of the tasks on the original list. However, whenever it does happen, there is something undeniably satisfying about crossing an item off my to-do list when it gets done. That simple checkmark or strikethrough is one of the joyful moments of my day. It's a feeling of accomplishment, a little victory in the midst of the "busyness."
Each completed task is a step forward. With every checkmark, we see proof of our efforts, no matter how small. That feeling of progress fuels motivation. It reminds us that we are capable, that we are making things happen, and that, bit by bit, we are building success. Embrace the joy of checking things off. Celebrate the small wins. While there is always something else to do or to prepare for, PTHS accomplished some big things this week on our journey to the end of the school year. It feels pretty good!
In your personal or professional life, what are you checking off next on your "to do list?" I just wrote my weekly blog. Check! #nocknation
