Curriculum and Assessment Updates
Summer Reading
We had a Green Meadow Summer Reading Assembly this week to promote lots of reading over the summer months. Children in grades PreK - 3 should experience reading every day to build language acquisition skills and develop vocabulary. Our school librarian, Sarah Paisner, has added resources for summer reading to the Green Meadow Virtual Library website. Our ELA coaches, Candace Adamson and Charlotte Jones, reminded students about the Little Free Library that is placed in our bus circle green. Students can stop by all summer to take a book or leave a book. Over the past month, Mark Malcolm from the Maynard Public Library has visited classrooms to promote the library's summer reading program. We hope all of our students participate this year!
Field Day
This week our PE teacher, Mr. Wood, worked with the PTO to organize our annual Fied Day. Students participated in a variety of games and activities outside on the field at Crowe Park. The weather could not have been better. There were so many big smiles on the faces of both students and staff. Many, many thanks to Mr. Wood, our staff, and to all of the parents who volunteered to make this event such a great success!
Spanish Immersion End of Year Celebration
On Wednesday, our Spanish Immersion program celebrated the end of the year by sharing songs, poetry, dances, and a play. The students and teachers worked hard on their performances and did a wonderful job. It was great to see so many people from the community gathered together to celebrate!
Fowler Meeting for Parents/Caregivers of Rising Grade 4 Students
Greetings Caregivers of Rising 4th Graders,
We are very excited to welcome your student(s) next Monday when they visit Fowler for their tour. We have a fun morning planned for them. The grade will be split into two groups. Below is what it will look like!
Group 1 Tour
Band and Chorus demonstration (Groups 1 and 2 as a whole group)
Group 2 Stays for Tour
Also next Monday we have a parent session scheduled. We do need to make one small adjustment to the time. Instead of 12:30, the remote presentation will be at 11:30. The presentation will be recorded and shared. Grade 3 teachers have shared the link with you via email.
As always, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Snyder or myself with any questions.
Thanks,
Keith Kinney
Welcome to the Counselor's Corner!
Summer is almost here! Many children can’t wait for school to let out for the summer, but for some, summertime comes with its own set of concerns. The long break takes everyone out of their routines, which can be hard for kids who have a difficult time with change, and unstructured days can leave kids struggling to feel grounded. In preparation for the upcoming transition, here are some strategies for a successful summer break for your family. Enjoy these end of the school year picture books to guide valuable conversations about the transition with your child. Additional SEL resources can be found on the Green Meadow Social Emotional Learning Resources website.
