Marlette Elementary
December Newsletter - December 10th
Note from the Principal
Hi Parents and Guardians,
With the upcoming Christmas Break comes a brand new year. But with every new year comes a reflection on what has already happened. At Marlette Elementary, we have done the following so far for the 2024-25 school year.
- Implemented the Bookworms curriculum for Language Arts based off the Science of Reading along with training and coaching from the University of Delaware.
- Implemented the iReady curriculum for Math based off concept-based learning.
- Increased the number of students who have the ability to see a certified School Social Worker through 31N.
- Assigned Beverly George as our district math coach to assist in teaching strategies and implementation of math curriculum.
- Partnered with Varsity Tutors to offer enrichment, on-demand tutoring services, and live classes to all students.
- Revamped our PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) with the introduction of the Red Raider Store.
These were just the major ones, but many more smaller changes were made to do what is best for the children of Marlette Elementary. We will continue to work on achieving our goals according to our school improvement and strategic plan.

Strategic Plan Committee Survey
Marlette Community Schools is looking for interested members of our community to help shape our Strategic Plan that will guide all aspects of our district for the next three to five years. If interested, please complete the following survey (LINK).
Bus Transportation Changes
Ms. Ceci, bus drivers, and school secretaries may be calling families of bus riders to coordinate the changes to bus routes from having seven routes to six routes with the retirement of Ms. Sue Huggett. Unfortunately, this will add to the number of students and the length of each bus route.
If you or someone you know is interested in training to be a bus driver or a substitute bus driver, please reach out to Ceci Chapin at ceci.chapin@marletteschools.org.

Note from Math Coach Beverly George
Hi everyone,
This December, let's keep the math momentum going! With our new i-Ready curriculum, your child is building important skills tailored to their unique needs. You can support their progress by encouraging them to share what they've learned in their math classes. Look for opportunities to connect math to everyday activities like cooking, shopping, or holiday planning. Your involvement makes a big difference in helping your child grow as a confident mathematician! Let’s finish the year strong—thank you for being a partner in your child’s learning journey!
Let me know if you have any questions!!!
