Automotive Tech Spotlight: Diagnosing and Fixing CV Axle Issues
Hands-on learning meets real-world automotive challenges, and this dynamic duo of aspiring mechanics proved it by tackling a worn-out CV axle on a Chevy.
The vehicle was experiencing a vibration during acceleration—a classic symptom of a damaged inner tripod joint in the CV axle. Upon inspection, it was clear the CV axle was well past its prime—it was completely cooked and needed replacement.
The students quickly diagnosed the problem and took the necessary steps to resolve the issue. They skillfully removed the damaged axle, installed a new one, and ensured the repair met industry standards. The result? A smoother ride and a valuable learning experience for these future automotive professionals.
This repair underscores the importance of identifying specific symptoms like acceleration vibrations, which can point directly to worn components in the drivetrain. With each hands-on project, our Automotive Technology students gain the technical skills and diagnostic expertise they’ll need for successful careers in the industry.
