A Message From Mrs. Carmody
Dear Fremont Families,
We are so excited for next week. The school is in the final stages of preparation and will be ready to welcome everyone to our Meet and Greet on Wednesday. Please see specific times in the Important Dates section below.
As a reminder, if anyone is going to the Mundelein Farmer’s Market tomorrow, I will be there reading stories at 9:30 and 10:30 next to the Area Coffee Shop and would love to meet you! Stay tuned for more opportunities to connect with me in the near future.

Teacher Assignments
If you haven't already done so, teacher assignments are now able to be seen by logging into your TeacherEase account. Go to https://www.teacherease.com/, use your email address as your user id and enter your password. If you do not know your password, click “forgot password” and a link will be sent to setup your password. Once in your account, please click on the "Academics" tab and then click "Classes" to view your K-2 Homeroom assignment.
Important Dates
August 13- Kindergarten Kick Off: 5:00-6:30 p.m. at the Elementary School Playground (More Information)
August 14- Meet and Greet: 1:00-3:00 p.m. Students are invited to drop off supplies and meet their teacher (Click here for the school supply list). Students with last names beginning with A-L attend from 1:00-2:00 p.m. and M-Z attend from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Stop by the Intermediate School Gymnasium to pick up bus tags and meet your child’s bus driver; set up and pay for lunch accounts at the Quest table (Lunch account Set Up Info); drop off health forms to Nurse Dana at the Nurse’s table; and visit host representatives from our PTO, Scouts, Public Library, and Right at School.
August 15- First day of School:
Elementary school hours are 8:50 a.m. to 3:38 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Please keep in mind that doors open daily at 8:45 a.m. and students begin each day promptly at 8:50 a.m.
Each Wednesday will be an early release day so that teachers and staff may participate in professional learning. Elementary School students will be released at 3:08 p.m. each Wednesday. Please see below for more information regarding after school care and transportation on Wednesdays.
August 16- PTO Back to School Bash: 5:30-7:00 p.m. More details to follow.
August 19- Board of Education Meeting: 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Middle School Media Center
August 20- Curriculum Night: 6:15-7:45 pm. More details to follow.
Transportation
Bus route information for the upcoming school year was disseminated on August 5. If you have any questions, please contact transportation@fsd79.org.
Student Pick-Up/Drop Off
If you plan to pick up your child from school on a frequent basis please fill out this form. You will be given a sign, through your youngest child at school, that you will display in your car window. If you have completed the form prior to August 9th, we will have the sign available at Meet and Greet. Please refer to our Pick-up and Drop-off Procedures for our specific guidelines.
Curriculum Night
The Elementary School Curriculum Night will be on Tuesday, August 20. Mrs. Carmody will present a quick introduction at the beginning and the end of the evening in the Elementary Gym. Each homeroom teacher will give two identical presentations. Each presentation will be the same so you only need to attend one of them. More details will be communicated after the start of the school year.

Student Absences
If your child will be absent from school for any reason, please report the absence to the school office by 9:00 a.m. by calling 847-837-0437 option 2. Safety is our number one priority so please help us by reporting as soon as possible. Attendance at school is crucial for your child’s success so every effort should be made to avoid non-health-related absences.
Wednesday Early Release After School Care Registration- LAST DAY TO REGISTER!
Registration is now open for Wednesday after-school (3:08 - 4:08 p.m.) no-cost childcare program for Fremont School District 79 K-5 students from the start of the school year through the start of winter break.
PLEASE NOTE: In order to register your student(s) for after-school childcare on Wednesdays from August 21 through December 18, you must do so by today, Friday, August 9. Please review the following two-step registration process:
FOR CHILDCARE
To participate, families must register via the Right at School website by today, Friday, August 9.
FOR BUS TRANSPORTATION
If 4:08 p.m. bus transportation home is necessary, parents must complete this form for every child needing bus transportation by today, Friday, August 9. These bus routes are run similar to activity buses with neighborhood group stops. If you do not register your child(ren) for bus transportation, you are committing to picking your child(ren) up each week.
It is important to note that requests made after Friday, August 9 cannot be accommodated due to our need to devise a safe supervision and transportation plan.
School Lunches
Medical Forms
Health information and medical forms are available on the FSD79 Health Services website page. Please drop off forms at your child’s school.
Kindergarteners must show proof of current physical/immunizations, as well as dental and eye exam forms.
Second graders must complete a dental examination prior to starting school.
Photo Opt-Out Form
Parents and guardians who DO NOT want their child’s photograph and/or student work published need to complete this form and return it to their school's front office within your student’s first 5 days of school attendance. A letter submitted from the previous year will not carry over.
Before and After School Care
Device Policy & Family Handbook
As we strive to maintain a focused and respectful atmosphere in our classrooms and throughout the school, it is important to reinforce our personal electronic device policy. We ask that you discuss this with your child(ren) before the school year begins. All students must understand the expectation of not using cell phones or smart watches during the school day, including in classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, and during lunch or recess.
In summary:
Portable electronic equipment includes devices such as cell phones, video recording devices, smart watches, iPods, and other electronic devices are not able to be used during the school day.
All personal electronic devices must be kept powered off or silenced unless a supervising teacher grants permission. They should be stored out of sight in a backpack, Chromebook bag or sleeve (rather than in pockets or waistbands).
Students will be permitted to use the school telephone in the main office when they need to contact their family.
Use of devices may be permitted as an accommodation in a student’s IEP or 504 plan.
For reference, you can access the FSD79 Family Handbook 2024-2025 (formerly referred to as the Parent/Student Handbook) which also outlines the Portable Electronic Equipment (Reference: Board Policy 7:190).
We greatly appreciate your support in conveying this clear and consistent message to your child. We will continue to evaluate our policy and procedures regarding personal electronic devices, seeking feedback from both parents and students. Many schools locally and nationally are restricting access to these devices to improve student engagement and reduce distractions. Together, we can ensure a focused and productive learning environment for all students while exploring best practices for managing portable devices.

The Fremont PTO would love to see you at our meetings this year! Meetings are on the third Wednesday of the month in the Middle School Den at 6:00 pm. Our next meeting is on August 14th.
Based on feedback from parents, we do provide childcare services for children ages 3+ at ALL of our upcoming PTO meetings. Please use the form below to let us know if you will be bringing a child to the meeting. It is not required to RSVP; however, we ask that you please do so if you plan to take advantage of childcare. Care will be provided by Fremont Middle School students for individuals ages 3 and up.

BACK TO SCHOOL BASH
Join the PTO for our Back to School Bash at the NEW Intermediate School playground on Friday, August 16th at 5:30 for food, music, and fun! We're excited to welcome all of our Fremont families back to campus.
AUGUST 23rd NO COOK NIGHT!
We’re excited to announce our first No Cook Night of the school year, Friday, August 23rd from 6-10 pm at Panera Bread, 1575 S. Lake St. in Mundelein. Hope to see you there!
PTO MEMBERSHIP/ONLINE DIRECTORY FOR 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR
If you already have an account in Membership Toolkit, thank you for creating and/or updating your Membership Toolkit account last year.
If you don't have an account in Membership Toolkit, set it up now for free! Once you have created an account in Membership Toolkit your child will appear in the online directory immediately (that's if you choose to do so). To create an account, go to fsd79.membershiptoolkit.com and follow the directions in the attached form (Online Student Directory Set Up Instructions 2024-2025).
To gain access to the Online Student Directory your account must be active and you must pay the $15 PTO Membership Family Fee. If you paid your PTO Membership fee through your TeacherEase account before June 15th, your payment has been confirmed and you currently have access to the Online Student Directory. If you didn’t pay your PTO Membership Family Fee before June 15th, you can pay the $15 PTO Membership Family fee thru Venmo @Fremont-PTO; or by bringing or sending the attached form with your cash payment or check made payable to Fremont PTO to any school front office. The option to pay the PTO Membership Fee thru your TeacherEase account is no longer available. Once we receive confirmation of your payment, we will give you access to the online directory. Please note it may take up to one week to be granted access to the online directory.

BIRTHDAY BOARD
Celebrate your Fremont Student's special day! "Happy Birthday, Your Child's Name" can appear on the Fremont Electronic Message Board. Just complete the Birthday Board Request Google Form 2024-2025; or complete the birthday board form and send it back to any school front office with your $5 payment per birthday message.
