We care about the success of every student at Oakley. To achieve this, students need to be present in class. Leaving early often means missing out on an entire class period. We'd like to ask for your help in ensuring students stay in school from the beginning to the end of the day. We appreciate your help.
Drop Off Begins: 7:35 AM

Tardy Bell: 8:10 AM
Attendance Bell: 9:40 AM
Dismissal Begins: 3:45 PM
All students Should be picked up by 4:05 PM
Students arriving after the Tardy Bell will have to be escorted by a parent into the school.
Parents picking up at 4:05 PM will be required to pick up their child in the office.

Yearbooks on Sale Now!
Our 2023-24 Yearbook is now on sale. Purchases can be made via the website or on campus in the office. If you want to pay by credit card, please use the online website. On campus purchases must be made with cash only. No checks will be accepted. Please include a filled out Yearbook form with your order. Blank forms can be picked up from the front office. Remember that only 100 are ordered and we normally sell out fast. Place your order now so that you can make sure you get your copy.
Library Books are Due
All library books are due back to the library by May 3 to begin inventory. Please do a check of all places your child may have left the book. Some places to look:
Under Seats in the Car
In the car trunk
In closets
On shelves
Under furniture
Families house
Please do not send fees for books until the end of May. Overdue book emails are sent automatically to the Skyward email. If your child has their book(s) in their backpack, please let their homeroom teacher know that they have it. Books can also be dropped off in the book turn in box outside the library. To pay a fee, wait for the notices to be sent starting May 6. Exact cash is needed.
Staff Appreciation Week
May 6-10 is Staff Appreciation Week! We are celebrating all of our staff this week. We have some easy ideas that students can do to show the staff their appreciation.
Monday-Be Helpful by asking to help with a task for a staff member.
Tuesday-Give a gift you made your self by making a craft with supplies you already have at home to give to a staff member.
Wednesday-Say thanks by showing your thankfulness by sending a message with a handwritten note or card.
Thursday-Make it a beautiful day by drawing or coloring a beautiful picture for a staff member.
Friday-Let's make it a great day all day for your class by smiling, saying thank you, and treating everyone kindly.
Parent Interest Meeting joining Dual Language
If you are interested in having your child join the Dual Language program next year, there will be two mandatory informational meetings offered. On May 6, we will host an informational meeting on campus at 8:30 a.m. On May 7, there will be another meeting hosted at the Annex building at 5:30 p.m. This meeting is for students who will be entering Kindergarten next year.
Field Day is May 10 | Students must wear PE shoes
Volunteers needed for Field Day
Volunteers are needed for the Oakley Field Day on May 10. Volunteers must have the NCISD Volunteer badge. Contact Ms. Clifton at mclifton@newcaneyisd.org
Students should wear their PE shoes that day. There will be many activities where students can jump and run. To help with safety, please make sure students have their PE shoes on that day.
End of Year Fundraiser-Smencils!
Are you looking for an inexpensive gift to give your student to celebrate the end of year or just because? We will be selling Smencils during the Awards celebrations. Smencils are amazing smelling pencils made out of recycled newspaper. We will also have other products like Smens (Gel Pens), Smelly Gellies Gel Crayons, and Jumbo Smickers (Stickers). All of them smell amazing and range in price from $1-$2.Look for the table at the awards ceremonies! Sales are cash only.

Annual Tug-of-War Tournament
Our Annual Tug of War Tournament will be May 21 during Specials. All students should wear their PE shoes to participate. Students wearing non-PE shoes such as Crocs, sandals, boots, or dress shoes will not participate.
The last day of school is May 23. This is a full school day. Please talk to your child's homeroom teacher about any planned activities.

Blast Expectations at Home!
Parents, we tested out the Parent Shout Out form before the Winter break. Now that we have it working, we would love for you to show recognition to our students showing Blast Expectations at home! We want to encourage Blast Expectations in all areas. If you see your child exhibiting the following, please send them a shout out!

Mango Language Family Access
Mango Languages for Parents
New Caney ISD is excited to announce another year of partnership with Mango Languages.
What is Mango Languages? Mango Languages is a language learning software that the Multilingual department has purchased to help students with their L2 acquisition. It supports the learner in acquiring new languages (over 30 languages are available) and provides cultural context in a user-friendly interface.

Finding Report Cards in Skyward
Reminder, you can use Family Access in Skyward to keep track of your student's grades. Canvas Grades only gives you information about individual assignments. If you want to check on your student's overall grade, you will find that information in Skyward. You can put in a Help Desk Ticket request if you need help remembering your log-in information.

We are all a part of the Rocket House. The Rocket House will be divided into 7 smaller houses, with students and staff members randomly assigned to each house. Each house will be represented by one of the 7 Mindsets listed below:
