THAT WYLIE BUGLE
NOVEMBER 12-19 OFF & DOWN!
CONGRATULATIONS - STATE MARCHING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Students,
It seems that everything that was so fast and furious has come to an immediate stop. After a good week of reflection I would like to offer the following praises on our marching season this year. As a group we were able to take people at different levels of experience and ability, and work together to achieve common goals. To do this you learned:
- Commitment to others and yourself -- This is an important personal trait that some students your age have yet to master.
- You have learned time management.
- You have learned to compromise.
- You have learned how to push yourself beyond what you thought you could do.
- You have learned to process emotions of love, disappointment, dislike, sadness, joy, pride, and many others in a constructive manner.
- You have served your peers…and probably didn’t even know you did.
- You have realized that serving others and serving the music with integrity gives you joy and pride.
- You have learned that hard work does not kill you and actually makes you better. On most days you have worked harder than most people...and before 9am.
- You have experienced that it feels good to work, follow through and achieve to the very end.
- You have experienced the amazing feeling of a stadium full of people applauding you...and they don't really know why. They just know that they like it.
- You have learned that humility should always be a part of excellence.
- You have learned that when you experience disappointment life still moves forward and you must to move with it...otherwise you are left behind and miss out on many blessings along the way.
- You have learned that Mr. Dixon is always right...except for 1 time.
- You have learned that it is hard to hide when you have a bunch of big white feathers on your head.
- You have experienced the love and support of YOUR parents OTHER peoples parents and your community.
- You are and will always be a part of a very large family that loves you and accepts you.
This list can go on and on. Some years you take home a lot of trophies, and some years you don’t; however, it does not change the amazing time we have all had from August – November. Words will never express how proud I am of every member of THAT WYLIE BAND. Keep up the hard work and attention to detail you have learned on the marching field and apply it to your school work and music making for the rest of the year.
