Sacred Heart News
Friday 31st January
Headteacher's Welcome
Dear Parents and Carers,
It was good to see parents in and around school for SEND parents' evenings this week. The dates for Parents' Evenings are now organised for after the half term holiday but should you need to speak with the class teacher prior to this time then please let them know.
Term dates for next year
We have set the dates for the next academic year and they are now on the school website. We have noticed that many of the secondaries do not follow the Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow dates and there are two week breaks for many secondaries in the Autumn half term. The secondaries having different holidays means this can often impact attendance at primary school as families feel they can then take holiday. It is important to keep the children in the routine of coming to school for their well-being and to maintain academic process. Please try and plan holidays around the dates set. Every child should aim for 95% attendance or above.
End of the financial year
Please ensure prompt payment for February and March Breakfast and After School Club so that we can pay everything as planned for end of the financial year – March.
Mrs Fogg
After 15 years working as a Music Teacher at Sacred Heart, Mrs Fogg is finishing up as a class music teacher on the 18th February. A big thank you to Mrs Fogg for her dedication, passion and inspiration shared with countless children over the years. Mrs Fogg’s lessons have been full of creativity and joy. I believe that she will have instilled in many children a lifelong love of music. I know she will be missed by the whole school community. Mrs Fogg has kindly agreed to come to school on Tuesday mornings until the Easter holidays to continue with the Choir and instrumental music lessons. We wish her all the very best.
Quiz Night
On Friday 7th February we have our annual Quiz Night organised by the PTA. Please bring your friends along for this fun-filled evening, plus it raises funds to enhance the children's learning experiences. Please see details below.

Church Roof Slate Appeal
The children at school really want to help the church open its doors again. We have made a poster below with details of the appeal. Even £5 would be wonderful. Please donate if you can.

Other News
Girls Football vs Collis
On Tuesday 21st, ten girls went to play an amazing football match against Collis. We had a very tough competition. Though we played exceedingly well, particularly our defending in the first half, we did end up losing. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and can't wait to play again.

Boys Football vs Collis
Last Tuesday, we fought Collis in a tough football match. We were 1-0 down at half time. Unfortunately we conceded 5 goals in the second half, but we won a free kick which we scored from (top bins). It ended 6-1 to Collis. The Sacred Heart team were devastated but happy that we played well!

Year 4 Girls Football
On Thursday we played at the Y4 girl's football tournament. During the first game we lost 7-0 but that didn't bother us - it was so much fun! We then played our second game which unfortunately we lost again but again we weren't too sad because they had their own personal coach and we were still having fun. In the last game we won 6-1 with Zahra scoring 3 goals and Millie scoring 3. Chloe was the best goalkeeper because she kept all the goals out in this game (except one) and kicked the ball so far! Thank you Miss Flowers and Mr Wardell for bringing us; we really enjoyed ourselves. We can't wait for the next one.
Netball for St John the Baptist
On Tuesday, we played SJB in Netball. The first half didn't quite go to plan and we ended it down by 7 goals! However, the second half went much better, and during the third quarter we came back with 1 goal to their 0. In the 4th we scored another 2 (but so did they!). It was a hard fought second half and the game ended 9-3. This game ends our run of league matches. We have had a good time playing and look forward to the tournament in February.
Cricket Opportunity
James Watson from Hampton Wick Royal Cricket Club (HWRCC) is providing a fantastic opportunity for girls to get involved in playing cricket. HWRCC has a thriving juniors section that caters for children aged 5 upwards. This year they have set up a girls section and are looking to grow it. They have entered the Middlesex softball league and Surrey hardball league for girls and have hosted a Surrey SMASH event at the club, with a number of clubs from across Surrey attending. Last year HWRCC won both the u10s and u11s events. Girls training takes place on Sundays 1-3pm, starting on 19th January. All ages and standards are welcome. HWRCC have kindly waivered all girls’ memberships this year! James' contact details can be found on the flyer.
There is also the opportunity for boys to get involved in HWRCC too and join an already thriving club. If boys from Sacred Heart are interested in playing cricket they should contact Dom Spray on juniorcricket@hwrcc.co.uk. Boys training takes place at Tiffin Boys on a Sunday.
It would be great to have representatives from Sacred Heart school on these teams and playing this brilliant sport, perhaps even at the highest levels!
