Afternoon Car Pick-Up
REMINDER TO PARENTS PICKING UP IN THE AFTERNOON.
If your child participates in an afterschool activity such as basketball, music lessons or DI groups please don't get in the carline traffic prior to 3:30. If you do, you'll be instructed to park so we can keep the dismissal process flowing.
School starts at 8:30!
Please remember that school begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. and those arriving afterward are marked with an unexcused tardy.
Drop off begins as early as 8:10 and kids can enjoy outdoor recess until school begins. We welcome your kids earlier so they can get some wiggles out before the school day begins with the added bonus of being on time.
If you are in the car line, please pull all the way up to the front of the sidewalk so that more children can exit at the same time. And, if your child needs extra time and help, please consider parking in the lot and walking them in to help avoid delays.
Please note that when students are tardy, it impacts the flow of the classroom routines and academics.

Voicemail Request
Often times when we need to get a hold of a parent, their voicemail is full and we can not leave a message. We ask that you kindly clean out your voicemail and ensure that it accepts new messages. Please and thank you!
Stuffed Animals
Mrs. McFee is collecting old/outgrown stuffies in good used condition for use in her physical education classes for the younger grades. Perhaps some new friends will replace the old ones over the break, and we will gladly accept the outgrown ones! This is an ongoing collection with no definitive deadline; please drop off at the front office.
We need substitute teachers!
Please pay your preschool and before-school fees.
Walking Program
A message from our Reading Specialist, Mrs. Buckley:

Focus on Phonological Awareness Skills
A message from our school nurse, Mrs. Carey:
A couple of things I have noticed:
Parents are still sending students to school sick and/or medicated to mask fevers. This causes others to become sick. Strep throat, which is highly contagious, has been rampant the last couple of weeks. I get it. It’s hard to get time off from work. However, kids spread illnesses quickly because they are not always diligent with covering their cough/sneezes, or washing their hands.
Parents are sending their children to school too soon after being sick. They feel miserable and can’t focus on their tasks. Give them a day to rest!
There are still parents who have not filled out the SNAP Health Portal medication administration yet. This helps me to help keep them comfortable enough to focus at school. Please don’t forget to email me if you have given any medication prior to school so I do not have to disturb you at work. In turn, I will let you know (via email) by the end of the school day if I have given them anything while at school.
From the GVS parent handbook: Signs and Symptoms to Keep Your Child Home OR To Be Sent Home From School Fever over 100.0- students need to be free from fever without using medication for 24 hours before returning to school Vomiting or diarrhea, within the past 24 hours Reddened, itchy eyes with sticky drainage Suspected or known head lice Unrelieved, self-limiting pain and/or accident that has resulted in injury which needs further medical attention Stay Healthy!
