Hello Brimhall Families,

I think that we can all agree that the world could use more kindness in it. We are too often inundated with messages of negativity, of the challenges that life inevitably brings our way. That sometimes makes it hard to see all the good around us. At Brimhall, we are being intentional to elevate the kindness and joy that we experience each day. Kindness is a way of being and we choose to create a school that is filled with acts of kindness and the good feelings that come with doing something for others.

Part of this work is through a series of lessons we call Brimhall Kindness 101. Each Wednesday, classrooms gather in circle and for a lesson related to kindness. It always includes a video about kindness followed by a discussion. We will share that video each week in the Brimhall Buzz along with the discussion questions so you can keep the conversation going at home.

This week’s Brimhall Kindness 101 video is all about finding joy. Folks are introduced to a youngster named Kyle who finds complete joy in collecting items that one wouldn’t normally associate as collectables. You can view the video at the link here. I invite you to watch as a family and talk about the prompts below:

• What are some things that bring you joy?

• How can we encourage friends to find their joy? Why is that important?

• How do you express joy? What does that look like? Sound like? Feel like?

We are looking for volunteers to help pass out prizes during ALL SCHOOL BINGO!

With the changing weather, please ensure your student has the appropriate winter clothing at school each day: jacket, snow pants, hat, gloves, boots, and scarf. Make sure to label all items with your student’s name. If your family needs help obtaining winter gear, please contact our Social Worker, Micheal Stanefski at michael.stanefski@isd623.org.

Please include a change of clothes in your child's backpack (socks included). Bathroom accidents and messes on the playground sometimes happen, so students need to have a change of clothes available when necessary.

Registration is NOW OPEN for winter swim lessons! Does your child know how to swim and stay safe around water? Would you like to learn how to swim? It's never too late! Roseville Community Education offers swim lessons for youth ages 9 months - 14 years old, and adults and teens ages 15+!

Join our Early Childhood Program in celebrating 50 years of ECFE in the state of Minnesota! We'll have crafts, activities, cookies, and interactive live music at this free event. All families with young children are invited!

Calling all builders, inventors, and creative thinkers! Bring your whole family for an evening of creativity and teamwork at our first Family LEGO Night! Unleash your imagination and build unique creations using everyone's favorite building blocks. Spots are limited, so register early.

Enjoy team challenges, LEGO-themed prizes, and family fun for all ages and skill levels. Create your own LEGO mini-fig to bring home! There will also be an optional LEGO swap table at the event. Bring in your gently used LEGO sets to swap them for others that are new to you! Light refreshments and snacks will be available for purchase.
