Holiday Spirit Week: December 16th - 20th
2nd Grade Wax Museum
Our first annual Second Grade Career Wax Museum was a success! Our talented second-grade students, guided by Fraser’s Career Navigators and CTE Department, created a presentation on a career they are passionate about. Students transformed themselves into living wax figures and visitors were able to push a button to learn more about each career as they explored the museum.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to our first-grade classrooms and all the second-grade parents and guardians who took the time to visit our wax museum. Your participation helped make this event truly special and a fantastic learning experience for everyone involved. We look forward to next year's event and the new careers our students will explore!
Cookies With Santa
Santa Visits Disney Elementary
Our first Cookies with Santa event was a huge success! A BIG thank you to our PTO for organizing and sponsoring this wonderful community event. We all had a wonderful time connecting with Disney families while visiting with Santa, decorating cookies, coloring Holiday pictures, and enjoying story time! Thank you to all our volunteers and to our Disney PTO for brining our community together during the Holiday Season!
Moon Beams for Sweet Dreams
Our student council members spread some Holiday Cheer to patients at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. Student Council members bundled up in the cold and participated in Moon Beams for Sweet Dreams. This is an event where community members show their love and support for patients in the hospital during the Holidays. Participants shined their lights to send patients off to bed with sweet dreams and well wishes. We are so proud of our Disney student leaders and their desire to organize events that give back to our community! Way to go, Disney Student Council!
Learning Mode Change
Switch from Virtual to Face-to-Face Learning
At this time, families are able to request to change the learning mode for their student(s) for the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year. Students who are currently attending school in-person can switch to virtual, and students who are enrolled in virtual can switch to in-person. If you do not wish to switch your child’s learning mode, no action is necessary.
Requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Submitting the form linked below does not guarantee a request will be granted. Requests will be reviewed by building and district leadership and the parent/guardian will be notified. If approved, the change will be effective for the second semester (January 6, 2025 - June 6, 2025).
Please carefully consider this semester-long commitment before submitting this application, as requests to change during the second semester will not be granted. However, the District may change your child’s learning mode if appropriate academic progress is not met throughout the semester.
This application will close on December 16th. You will be notified by the District of your child’s application status and specific information will be provided about the switch.
If you are interested in changing your child’s learning mode for the second semester, please fill out this application. You will need to submit one request for each student.
Second Step Social & Emotional Learning
As you know, in September we kicked of the Second Step Curriculum in all K-8 classes to further strengthen our social and emotional learning. Second Step offers weekly, age-appropriate virtual lessons for students to help them with a variety of social and emotional skills. These weekly lessons build on and support all of the great work we're doing at Ike to support our students. Combined with our schoolwide restorative practices and consistent PBIS expectations, we are creating a firm Tier 1 foundation for supporting all of our students' social, emotional, and behavioral development.
This week, each grade-level will begin a new unit. Please view the grade-level home links below to learn more about what your child is learning and how to support them at home during the second unit of Second Step.

Dress for the Weather
Ready or Not, the Cold Weather is Coming...
Please be sure to send your child to school dressed for the weather each day. Before we know it, students will start needing warm coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and/or boots daily throughout the fall/winter.
A few notes regarding winter gear:
- Disney Elementary has received donations for coats, gloves, and hats. Please contact the main office if your child needs any of these winter items.
- Please take time to label each and every item- because our lost and found gets bombarded with lost winter accessories throughout the season
- Once we have snow not he ground, please note that students will not be allowed to play in the snow during recess without boots and snow pants. If your child does not have these items they will be required to stay on the blacktop during recess.
- Please note that, per Board Policy, we will be having outdoor morning lineup and heading outdoors for our 25 minute recess(es) if the windchill is 10+ degrees.
Time outdoors is time well spent for kids, in all seasons
In Door Line Up Reminders
When the red flag is hung outside our front doors, this means indoor line-up. Students only can enter the building thru the main door (door #1) as well as the back door (door #18) starting at 8:20 AM.
Reminders - Please utilize the car drop-off line and students will enter in the back of the building (door #18). If your child needs assistance, please park in a parking spot and walk your child to the main entrance (door #1). Student drop off is NOT allowed in the bus loop during indoor lineup.
Attendance Works
Keep up the Routine of Attendance through the Holidays
As we prepare for the end of the first semester and winter break, we are grateful for everyone who has helped to restore a routine for showing up to school while supporting students and families. Daily routines are essential for reducing stress and creating a sense of security for students and adults.
Please take steps to keep your child healthy and send them to school unless they are truly sick. Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn and connect to peers and their teachers. Attendance Works has put together a helpful list of tips to help keep your child healthy and in school.
We want to thank all our families, students, and staff for their continued support of our attendance initiatives.
Health Guidance for School
We want to partner with our families to make our school a safe, healthy and welcoming environment for your students. Make sure to send your child to school if they are generally healthy and able to participate in their usual day-to-day activities. Avoid keeping children at home unless they are too sick to participate. We have put together this helpful chart of when to keep your child home and when they can return to school for common illnesses
