Letter From Our Administration
December 19, 2024
Dear Families,
We have made it through the 1st semester as I write this. High school students are down to their last few final exams, middle school students are wrapping up the last units of the semester, and elementary students are making the final push in their studies. There are panic-cakes being served, staff and students in their fun holiday spirit wear, and classroom movie parties ushering in the coming break.
This semester, our students have challenged themselves in their classrooms in their academic pursuits, and we, as a campus community, have worked hard to focus on becoming both life-long learners and honorable leaders. Our character education focus this past month has been respect, and I am proud to say that I have seen this exemplified in our building every day.
As I have been in classrooms, teachers and students share their good things and learn more about each other. This simple activity at the beginning of class helps students demonstrate respect for each other and what makes us each unique, and it is so neat to see them celebrate these things together. I have seen our students carry themselves in the hallways, in the lunchroom, and during extracurricular activities with that same respect for others. This is a part of what makes SkyView such a special place.
I wish our students, staff, and families a peaceful and restful holiday break over these next few weeks. May you enjoy time together as you celebrate the traditions that are so important to you and yours.
Best,
Chris Bridgham

SkyView Hosts Annual Panic-cake Breakfast for Students Before Finals
In the halls of high school, stress takes its toll,
Finals looming large, a challenging goal.
Papers and exams, a mountain to climb,
But in the midst of it all, there's a sweet, gridded rhyme.
Panic-akes sizzling on a morning so bright,
A study break treat, a comforting bite.
Maple syrup cascades like a golden stream,
A brief respite from the academic dream.
Stacks of knowledge, chapters to flip,
A dash of cinnamon, a memory slip.
As pages turn and brains swirl with facts,
Panic-akes offer solace, a cozy act.
So, during finals, when the pressure is high,
Take a panic-ake pause beneath the sky.
Let warmth and sweetness ease the strife,
Happy holidays and a successful academic life!
Thank you to the community and families for all the amazing donations for our panic-ake breakfast. I am so happy we can continue this beloved tradition (established in 2014 with a COVID interruption). Thank you also to the wonderful staff and board members for helping make and flip 100s of panic-akes each morning and helping with all the set-up and clean-up. We are very grateful! Hope you have a wonderful holiday season.

Shoe Drive to Support SVA Teams Attend DI Global Finals
Have you outgrown your shoes? Getting new shoes for Christmas? This January, the SkyView community is invited to clean out their closets for a shoe drive to raise funds for SkyView Destination Imagination (DI) Teams heading to Global Finals in May 2025! Donations of gently worn, used, and new pairs of shoes (no single shoes) will be accepted. Adult sizes, kid sizes, men’s and women’s styles, cleats, sandals, fancy or plain shoes! (Just no rollerblades or ice skates.)
All donated shoes will be redistributed to micro-enterprise partners through Funds2Orgs, a for profit social enterprise used in developing nations for impoverished people to start their own businesses.
The amount of money raised is determined by the total weight of the shoes collected. All funds will help SkyView Destination Imagination Teams compete at Global Finals in May! Donation boxes will be set up in the SVA Lobbies starting in January.
