FAFSA for 2025-2026 Now Open! (REQUIRED for ALL graduating students)
As you may know, the 2025-2026 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) recently opened up for students to apply for college financial aid. This comes a little earlier than expected, but we are glad that it is up and available for your completion. Families can follow the Federal Student Aid Facebook page or Twitter/X feed for tips, updates and information.
*On December 10, College Aid Pro and ACT will provide a free, one-hour webinar at 12:30 PM on completing the FAFSA. Learn more about this opportunity and register for the webinar here.
Create FSA ID
Before students and families can begin the FAFSA, they must create an FSA ID. This is done by creating an account on the StudentAid.gov site. Both the student and the contributing parent must create an account. If a parent/guardian already has an account from a prior child, they can use that same account.
FAFSA Form
Once the FSA ID/Student Aid accounts are created, the student will begin the FAFSA form. The student will complete their portion of the FAFSA and then “invite” the contributing parent to complete the remainder of the form. Click here to determine who is considered the contributing parent.
FAFSA Completion is a State Requirement
As per Indiana state law, all graduating students are required to complete the FAFSA by April 15, 2025. This is a requirement for all students, regardless of post-secondary plans. However, parents/guardians can opt out by completing the state’s FAFSA Waiver Form, and turning it into the WHS Counseling Center.
College Goal Sunday: FAFSA Completion Event
Westfield HS will be one of several locations hosting College Goal Sunday, on February 23, 2025 at 2:00 PM. FAFSA filing experts from across Indiana will be available during the event to help all attendees with filing their FAFSA.
