NWEA MAP STUDENT PROGRESS REPORTS AVAILABLE IN MISTAR ON 10/28
The NWEA MAP Student Progress Reports, which include the Fall test administration, will be available in MiStar Parent Connection on Monday, October 28th.
The most recent NWEA MAP Growth Student Progress Report will be available in the MISTAR Parent Connection the week of October 28th. The following directions appear in the Useful Links section and describe how to locate your child's report and provide information and resources to help you understand their scores: How to access and understand your child's NWEA student reports.
A student’s NWEA MAP Growth score is one data point that teachers use to understand how a student is performing and how to best support them. School and district leaders use assessment scores in combination with other information to monitor performance and progress at the grade, school, and district level. It is important to understand that a single assessment can't give students, families, and teachers all of the information that they need to determine what a student knows and how to best support their learning. Information is also gathered through classroom observation, student work, one-on-one interaction between student and teacher, as well as other formal and informal assessments throughout the year. Please discuss any questions that you have about your child’s performance with their teacher. If you have trouble opening the report, please contact your child's teacher and they can print a copy for you.
HALLOWEEN DRESS CODE
🎃A reminder that the student dress code applies on holidays. This upcoming Thursday, students are encouraged to wear Black and Orange for Halloween.
LOST AND FOUND
The cold weather has barely hit us, yet our lost and found is bursting at its seams! If your student is missing their sweatshirt, jacket, water bottle, or lunch bag, please have them stop by the lost and found located in the main hallway next to the showcases. We would love to get these items back to their owners! It's also an excellent time to double-check that your child's name is written on their lunch box, jacket, etc. Thank you!
NO SCHOOL ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2024
Classes will not meet in any of the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, 2024. P-CCS staff will be participating in professional development on this day. Classes will resume on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
EMERGENCY DRILLS
We will have our first lockdown drill next week. This first drill will practice a "Shelter-in-Place" where movement within the building is restricted, and students/staff remain in classrooms.
We are required to practice three more lockdowns each year. The last two drills will happen in January and May, and involve utilizing ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) protocol of run, hide, fight. During the lockdown drills, we will be practicing the 'hide' portion, which includes barricading the classroom door.
Our staff will talk with students about what to expect during this type of lockdown drill; however, we want to make you aware so that you can also talk with your children about it. Thank you.
TUTORING AFTER-SCHOOL ON TUESDAYS
USA HOCKEY ALL-SCHOOL FIELD TRIP ON DECEMBER 11TH
We are so excited to be able to offer this field trip opportunity to students again this year. Field trip permission slip & information sheet for our all-school USA Hockey event will go home in November. This trip is for grades 6-8. If the copy does not make it home, it's linked below and also on the picture. The cost of the field trip is $20 and covers transportation to and from the game, a boxed lunch, and admission to the game. The boxed lunch contains 1 slice of cheese pizza, a bag of chips, a small candy, and bottle of water. The preferred payment is by check made out to PCCS but the exact amount in cash is also accepted.
Please have your student turn in the permission slip & money to their prime-time teacher by Monday, November 25th.
The NTDP U18 team will take on the Muskegon. It's a "kids day game" so there will be a lot of extra activities in addition to the game. The USA Hockey Pro Shop and Concession stands will also be open throughout the game.
Last year, four of the five middle schools attended this event. There will be administrators and staff from all the schools, but we are still looking for some additional chaperones. Please mark the bottom of the permission slip if you are interested in chaperoning (approx. 5 parents/grade) and we will email those selected to complete the iChat information. We will not be able to accommodate everyone who wants to chaperone. Please be sure to write your email address on the permission slip if you are interested. Thanks so much!

OCTOBER IS PRINCIPAL APPRECIATION MONTH
October is Principal Appreciation Month, and P-CCS would like to recognize the fine work of our great principals. These building leaders usually come to school before everyone arrives and leave well after students and staff leave. They are charged with leading a large group of teachers and support staff, making sure that students are learning and parents are informed. This is a huge job, but our principals do it all effectively and efficiently with a smile. We encourage you to join us by thanking all of our principals this month
