Stars of the Week
Reception and Key Stage 1 Stars of the Week
Key Stage 2 Stars of the Week
Well done to this week's Stars of the Week! You should all be very proud of yourselves.
Attendance
This week's school attendance is 95.9 % (very close to our target of 96%).
Whole school attendance so far this year is 95.3%
Early Years/Key Stage 1 class of the week is 1P with 99% attendance.
Key Stage 2 class of the week is 5W with 99.3% attendance - well done!
Once more, here is the link to the attendance page of the school website which has information on the Penalty Notice system. Ultimately, more than 2 penalty notices could result in the council taking you to court and a criminal record. We really do not want any of our families to have to go through this.

Youth Mental Health Week
As this week was youth mental health week, we launched module 3 of our My Happy Mind PSHE curriculum. The module is called 'Appreciate' and focuses on gratitude and how to express gratitude.
Click on the link below which will take you to the 'Appreciate' parent newsletter where you can find out more.
Film Night
We hope you have all seen the information about the Valentine's film night which is being held in school on Thursday 13th (posters are below). Normally this event is very popular. Once again, a big thank you to FOLA for organising the event.
Nursery Trips
It's been a busy week for Nursery with their public transport trip and also with visits to Shipley library.
Uniform and Jewellery
Last week, we reminded you about uniform expectations, but, a further reminder that, if your child is not in the correct uniform, we will try to provide them with the correct uniform in school. If you do not want this to happen, please ensure your child comes to school in the correct items. If you need any support with finding the correct uniform etc we would be happy to advise you.
We also wanted to give some further clarity over jewellery. Unless worn for religious reasons, the only jewellery which can be worn by pupils in school are simple stud earrings and watches. (Please look out for further information on smart watches however as there may be a change to the school stance on these in classrooms due to some issues they are presenting.) Necklaces, bracelets and rings should be left at home. If your child is wearing these to school, the class teacher will ask for them to be removed and will keep them safe until the end of the day.
We have also reminded our older pupils that items such as lip gloss should not be brought into school. As with jewellery, this would be kept by the class teacher and returned at the end of the day if seen in school
Thank you for your support in this.
Our new car!
We are very excited that we have finally managed to source a car for pupils to play in at playtime. I am sure you have seen it at drop off or collection. Before the car is 'open' to pupils, we need to ensure it is fully safe but hopefully it won't take us too long!
Playground before school
We just wanted to remind all parents and carers that, if pupils arrive on school grounds early before the start of the day, there will not be school staff outside. Staff are generally outside on the gates at arrival but this is not sufficient to supervise the whole playground. For this reason, we have always stated that there should be no football before school. Whilst we love the children to be active and do not want to discourage physical activity, when we did allow this, there were always numerous fallings out before the school day even began which would then impact on learning in the school day. That is the rationale for our decision. We do not want to take the action, like some other local schools, of keeping our gates closed until 5 minutes before the start of the school day, but we really do need your support in this. Should children want to be active before school, there is always a physical activity running at the school breakfast club. If you are interested in breakfast club, please contact the school office.
Asda Cash Pots for Schools
You might remember, before Christmas, Asda was running a scheme whereby for every purchase you made in Asda, some money would be donated to a school of your choice. We are delighted that this raised £792.59 for school! Thank you to everyone who supported us with this.
Classroom visits
We can't quite believe that next week is the final week of the half term! A reminder that, next Friday (14th) you are invited into your child's classroom from 3pm to look at the work they have been doing over the half term. We look forward to seeing you then.
Online Safety
Click below for this month's online safety newsletter which contains information on 'Red Note', alternative search engines to Google and much more. We hope you find it useful.
A further reminder to please be vigilant if your pupils are on group chat sites. We contacted Year 5 and 6 parents and carers earlier in the week as it was brought to our attention that pupils were discussing inappropriate things on their group chats and / or being unpleasant to others. Whilst we will continue to deal with any issues which come into school as a result of misuse of online communication, we also ask that you support us in any way you can eg. by not allowing your child access to apps which have an age rating above their own.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we will see you on Monday.
