Can anyone believe that we are entering our 4th week of school? Time flies!

I hope the summer has provided a time for rest, relaxation and fun with family and friends. The summer months- for me- are a time to reflect on the previous year and then look FORWARD to the following year with great anticipation. None of us will ever forget what the 2020-2021 school year was like and the challenges we faced. While we still don’t know what this coming school year will hold, I fully expect the staff and students of IECHS to embrace the hurdles that we might encounter, learn from the challenges and celebrate the successes that continue to shape who we are. You will notice that our motto this year is “We are Connected!" I truly believe that we need to get back to what we are GREAT at...and that is...being a united school... a FAMILY! We are of strong belief that true success stories are never without a chain of genuine, caring people and support. While we strive to provide this to our students, we also are asking that our families find time to check in and make sure their students transition back to school has been met with warm hearts and authentic smiles. We are in this together...WE ARE CONNECTED!

So the big topic: COVID. As your are aware, NCISD published a Return to In-Person Instruction Plan on the district website. IECHS is following all expectations of this plan. Should you have questions or concerns, the district has set up a COVID-19 Hotline [281-577-861] for parents. Please read the additional announcements below that address things that "may" affect IECHS.

I look forward to the coming months. Though school feels a bit different, the premise of "who we are and why were are here" has NOT changed-we love our students.

Parents-you continue to get better everyday :) We MUST continue to double up our lines because we can NOT have cars backed up into Sorters Rd. We have perfected the movement of the line and typically get most cars through in 7 minutes. I would like to suggest a later pick up time of 4:10-4:15-you will never have to wait and you move directly to the front of the line. I will continue to sing your praises -thank you so much!

• The district strongly recommends that students riding buses wear masks on the bus as social distancing is more difficult.
• Masks are readily available for students and staff.
• Parents are encouraged to send their students to school with a water bottle.
• Outside visitors not permitted past reception area.
• Screen students for illness each day and if they are experiencing symptoms please keep them home.

Service Learning is a HUGE component of the ECHS TEA Blueprint. Due to COVID protocols at many of our service learning sites, we will postpone "SL" until the 2022-2023 school year. We will be holding multiple career day, college fair, SEL activities, and college field trips on specific Fridays this year when students are in school. We look forward to reinstating our service learning program next year.

We are in the early stages of a new tardy policy for students. It is imperative that they arrive on time. The tardy policy is outlined below:

1. 1st Tardy- Verbal warning by teacher
2. 2nd tardy- Verbal warning by teacher
3. 3rd tardy- Parent contact by FAMILY teacher
4. 4th tardy- Parent contact/student conference with admin.
5. 5th tardy- Parent contact/Removal of privilege's[Friday activities/Early dismissal]
6. 6th tardy- In-person parent meeting w/admin., tardy contract, Friday detention on "off" Fridays, can't exempt Final Exams at end of semester
