Western Primary School News
December 2024
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As December arrives, we find ourselves reflecting on the wonderful memories and achievements of the first half of the school year. This season is a time for celebration, togetherness, and gratitude, and we are incredibly thankful for the support of our families, the dedication of our staff, and the hard work of our students.
It's hard to believe we are almost to the end of the semester! Our students and staff are doing an amazing job of learning and making the most of every day. December is always full of anticipation for the upcoming holidays and you can definitely feel the buzz of excitement in the hallways and classrooms here at WPS.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, December 3rd is our Family Fitness Night with parents vs kids dodgeball. It starts at 6:00pm in our gym. Parents wear green and kids wear red! Park in the back of the building. See you then!
On Thursday, December 5th our 2nd graders will be performing their winter performance at 5:30pm and 6:15pm. They are excited to show off all of their hard work!
Please make sure students are dressed appropriately for the cold weather. If your student is in need of a coat, gloves, or hat, please reach out to me or Mrs. Leap. If you have gently used items that you would like to donate, we are always accepting.
As always, don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you for partnering with us to provide the best education possible for our Panthers!
All the best,
Melissa DeWeese
WPS Principal

Introducing Dunkin....
We are thrilled to introduce Dunkin, the newest member of our Western Primary School family! Dunkin is a specially trained facility service dog who has been trained to assist with tasks that support student engagement and learning. He helps create a calming presence, encourages participation in activities, and even supports students during challenging moments. His unique skills are designed to enhance our school environment, providing both comfort and motivation for our students as they grow and learn.
To make Dunkin even more interactive, he will have his very own mailbox at school! Students will be able to write letters to Dunkin, practicing their writing skills while sharing their thoughts, questions, or even just telling him about their day. This fun activity will not only help develop important literacy skills but also strengthen their connection with Dunkin as an integral part of our school community. We are so excited for the joy and learning opportunities Dunkin will bring to Western Primary!
He also has his own facebook page if you want to follow along on his daily adventures. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61569788639665
