EVERYONE LEARNING, EVERYONE LEADING
Dear Longacre Families,
Fun Run was a tremendous success and we could not have asked for a more beautiful day! Special thanks to Audrey Cox, our PTA Executive Board and the outpouring of parent volunteers for facilitating a very successful FUN RUN last Friday! Mrs. Althouse's planning helped prepare our students for a safe run and/or walk. Also thank you to Jeffrey Wenzel for his DJ talents and SPOT; our very own Longacre mascot, for cheering on and even running with our students!
This important annual tradition could also never have been the success that it was without all of the help you provided with:
- designing and ordering the t-shirts,
- seeking out donations from local businesses to reduce the cost of supplies so every dollar raised could support learning opportunities for our kids,
- helping with the set-up
- helping with class pictures during the staging for each class,
- leading warmups,
- taking pictures,
- cheering students on,
- passing out popsicles,
- helping with the clean up,
- reaching out to every friend, co-worker, and relative to generate a pledge to support your child’s participation, knowing that every dollar collected helps us fund important opportunities for our Longacre children!
FUN RUN donations will be accepted for six more days. If we meet our school goal of $23,000, I will wear an astronaut costume and moon walk through the school during the Halloween parade on October 31st 😁
As always, feel free to contact our main office at 248-489-3733 if you have any questions or need assistance.
With Longacre Pride,
Rhonda Henry, Principal

Fall NWEA Scores available in Mi-Star
October 2024
Dear Parent/Guardians,
Farmington Public Schools uses NWEA’s MAP Growth Assessment as part of our assessment plan. These assessments help gauge each student’s instructional level and monitor student growth throughout the year. The results from our Fall assessments will be available for parent viewing by October 14, 2024.
Student reports for NWEA MAP Growth are available in MiStar. These reports can be accessed using the following directions:
Log into MiStar Parent Portal

Documents (see image at right)
Click on either the Doc image or Upload Documents (see image below)
To help you understand the reports, we have prepared the following information sheets.
No single data point or assessment type provides a complete picture of a child’s achievement. Farmington Public Schools uses multiple data points to support instructional planning as we support students in deepening their understanding of literacy and mathematics.
Thank you for partnering with us during this time! If you have any questions about your student’s report, feel free to reach out to your student’s teacher.
Sincerely,
Rhonda Henry

October's Leader in Me/Positive Behavior Support Lessons
During the month of October, students will be working on the skill of self-management and Habit #1: Be Proactive. Self-Management: The ability to manage one’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors effectively in different situations and to achieve goals and aspirations. Such as: using stress management strategies, setting personal goals, and using planning and organization skills.
Leader in Me Home Connections
We are excited to share the 7 Habits® with our families. We invite you to use the menu below to select a habit to focus on each week for the next 20 weeks.
For weeks 21–40, return to the top of the menu and challenge your family to focus on the habit not selected the first time around. Consider keeping a family journal to reflect on your learning or track your efforts with photos.
2024 PTA Reflections- Entries due by October 25th
Theme: Accepting Imperfection
The PTA Reflections program provides students with an opportunity to express themselves creatively and receive positive recognition for original works of art, inspired by a theme. Although organized in a contest format, the goal of Reflections is to encourage participation. Students are celebrated for their participation at every level.
Categories/Divisions
Students may submit an entry in any of the six arts areas listed below. Only original works of art are accepted. Depending on state and local PTA guidelines, students may enter more than one work of art.
The six art areas are as follows.
- Literature
- Music Composition
- Photography
- Visual Arts
- Dance Choreography
- Film Production
Participation in the Reflections Program is organized by school grade. Student works are critiqued with others in the same grade division. This allows recognition and judging of artworks by appropriate developmental age and skill levels. The five grade divisions are as follows:
