Curriculum Corner
Hello Oak Grove families,
One of the most important initiatives Oak Grove School has implemented the past five years is securing a personal device for each student to use throughout the school day. As you can imagine, it is a significant investment to equip every student with a device, but we have done so because we are committed to providing quality learning experiences that ensure the best chance of successful integration between technology and student learning.
We are asking for help at home in raising awareness among the students. The iPads and MacBooks that have been assigned to them are expensive and relatively fragile. While we know that occasional minor damage to devices is inevitable, we know that almost all serious physical damage can be avoided as long as students keep in mind that proper care is important.
We'd like to remind parents that all devices will be inspected at the end of the year, and while we’d like to avoid it, any physical damages may result in a repair charge assessed to parents.
We are doing our best to raise student awareness at school, but we would also greatly appreciate it if you could take a moment to talk to your child and explain that their school-assigned device needs to be properly cared for. Each device is scheduled to be in good working order for the next several years.
Thank you!

Track and Field 2017
Any interested students should sign up this week outside of Mrs. Edelson's classroom (Room 305, near the Junior High art room). When you sign up, we will check the list to make sure you have a current physical on file. Athletes will not be allowed to practice until they turn in a physical to the school nurse. The athletic fee is $50 if this if your first sport this year at Oak Grove. If you have already participated in another sport this year, the fee is waived.
Track and field is open to 6th-8th grade boys and girls. The first practice will be after spring break, Monday, April 3rd, from 3:30 - 4:45 PM. Meet in the JH Cafeteria. We practice four days a week, with one day off. The schedule is still being finalized. Track meets are listed on the main calendar on the Oak Grove website.
Please wear tightly-laced running shoes with good ankle/arch support. Since the weather changes a lot in the spring, bring clothing that can be layered, including a hat and gloves. As long as the weather permits, we will run outside. Remember, you can always take a layer off if you get too warm.
Parent Meeting: Tuesday, April 4 from 4:45-5:15 pm in the Junior High cafeteria.
