On Thursday 5/31, a large group of 8th graders traveled to Target Field to watch the Twins take on the Kansas City Royals. The Twins came out on top under a shining sun and a great time was had by all! Many thanks to Ms. Timmersman for all the hard work she put into making this trip a reality!
OEMS Students Fishing Success!
This past week a group of OEMS students had the opportunity to head out on the lake to fish, and they had an amazing haul of 16 fish. They caught Coho, Steelhead, King, and Lake (Grand Slam). Congratulations to all!
Last Day of School Information

We have a LOT of fun stuff planned at OEMS including an all school assembly trivia challenge hosted by Student Council, Minute to Win It Competitions, Yearbook Signing, and activities galore! Our 8th graders will get to celebrate their last day of middle school with music, games, face painting, a dunk tank and more! Please review the slideshow attached here for more information about schedules, logistics, and expectations. We are so excited to spend a fun day together!
Reminder from the Media Center
Library books need to be returned by Tuesday June 4th.
We will be doing a locker cleanout on Tuesday. Students are to bring everything home from their lockers when they leave on Tuesday.
High School Registration Update
To: 8th grade families
I would like to update information related to moving to the 7 period day for the 24-25 school year.
Students have begun hearing about these changes and I apologize for a gap in timely communications home.
East is moving from a 6 to 7 period day, students have time to take additional courses.
This is a great benefit and one we are excited to bring to East HS next Fall.
However, this also creates a significant need to offer additional courses and an adjustment to required credits for graduation.
New credit and course additions have moved forward starting next Fall.
Please continue to scroll through the information shared below.
To be ready for September, students currently in grades 8-10 have begun to make either 1 or 2 adjustments to their prior registration
1. With a new grade level, semester long requirement being added as displayed below, students have begun to identify which single semester course they choose to swap
*Important Note-Students filling their schedule with yearlong, sequential electives may see their counselor to request moving their grade level required course to a later year.
These are uncommon but would include being a part of multiple advanced Music, World Language, or CTE year long courses.
2. Students may also choose to add a newly offered elective from the courses below.
If so, students would make further updates to their prior registration during their grade level meeting at school.
*Important Note-Students filling their schedule with yearlong, sequential electives may see their counselor to request moving their grade level required course to a later year.

Schedule questions may be directed towards their school counselor:

For those of you who pre-ordered a yearbook, you will receive yours on Monday during WIN.
Yearbooks will be for sale during lunches the last week of school. It is first come first serve, if you did not already order one. We will also be offering autograph books to those without yearbooks during yearbook signing time on the last day of school.
Please bring cash or checks made payable to Ordean East Middle School. They often sell out, so if you would like one please be sure to bring money.
Tribal Members Highlighted in Virtual Event
Boozhoo (Hello),
The 7th Annual Growing Resilient Communities Gathering of Collaboratives and Tribal Nations will be held next month, on Tuesday, June 18th from 9:00 a.m. โ 2:30 p.m.
This free, virtual event supports tribal community members and partners and Childrenโs Mental Health and Family Services Collaboratives as they work to reduce ACEs, strengthen core protective systems, and create self-healing communities across Minnesota. This yearโs event will focus on Locally Grown Changemakers. This event is being planned and hosted by FamilyWise Services, with support from the Minnesota Department of Human Services and the Center for Prevention at BlueCross and BlueShield of Minnesota.
This year, we plan to celebrate, highlight, and elevate the stories of changemakers across Minnesota who are engaging in community-based efforts that are focused on creating more inclusive and equitable practices, cultural norms, and concrete supports so all children, families, and adults can thrive. Changemakers are individuals, groups, programs, initiatives, or coalitions improving the health and wellbeing of their community members, and we hope their stories will inspire you with new ideas that you can take back to your community.
The Conference Program provides a more comprehensive overview of the Changemakers who will be speaking this year.
We invite you to register today.
