Monthly Update, April 21, 2025

The Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools operations department has been working all year on improvement projects around the District, with several more planned through the summer. Most of the work completed this year is funded from our permanent improvement fund.

Over spring break, we replaced our internal phone system. The new system will facilitate efficient and reliable communication within the District as well as with the community. Most of the changes will only affect our staff, but there are a few differences that families and community members will notice when calling our schools.

When you call the main phone number for a school, you will hear an automated greeting. You speak to the office staff immediately by dialing 0. You will also have the option to dial someone's extension, search the staff directory or leave an attendance-related message.

The phone numbers for our school buildings, offices and administrators have not changed, but most teachers and other staff members have been moved from direct phone numbers to five-digit extensions. If you are trying to reach a teacher, classroom or other staff member by phone and the old number is not working, please call the main office or reach out to the teacher by email to get their new extension. Extensions can also be found using the staff directory option from the automated greeting.

We are proud to announce that Kris Fuller will be the new principal for Gahanna Middle School South, after receiving Board of Education approval on Thursday, April 17.

Mr. Fuller will take over leading the building next school year after the retirement of Robin Murdock. Mr. Fuller is currently an assistant principal for Gahanna Lincoln High School, where he has been since 2022.

Middle and high school students from the GJPS Superintendent's Student Advisory Council (SSAC) recently rolled up their sleeves and got their hands dirty for their first service project.

Students partnered with the Gahanna Parks and Recreation Department to plant trees at Friendship and Hannah Parks in honor of Arbor Day. Each of the trees planted represents our schools in the District, making it a meaningful and memorable project.

Congratulations to this month's Heart and Pride award winners! Hannah Morris, an intervention specialist at the preschool, and Desiree Schirg, a teacher at Blacklick, were recognized for showcasing the Heart of a Lion and the Power of the Pride. They were both recognized at the April Board of Education meeting. Brenda Lindenmayer, one of our March winners, was also recognized.

If you know of a staff member, regardless of position, who exemplifies our District values, be sure to nominate them!

Royal Manor celebrated Spread the Word Day with two inspiring town hall meetings reminding everyone to lift each other up every day!

Check out these highlights from the Middle School West Cultural Festival! Students explored customs and traditions from around the world through displays, games and a beautiful fashion show.

The Heart and Pride Award recognizes two outstanding staff members each month who make a profound impact on our students and Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools.

This nomination form will remain open year-round and is open to any member of our staff, regardless of position.

In November 2020, voters in the Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools district approved a bond and operating levy to fund Phase Two of the GJPS Master Facilities Plan.

Phase Two of the Master Facilities Plan Includes:

• Additions and renovations to High Point and Blacklick Elementary
• Additions and renovations to Middle School East
• New Lincoln High School on current site
