FPE Community Newsletter 02/12/2025
February 12, 2025

Principal's Message:
Greetings Forest Park Students and Families,
This week is full of fun traditions and holidays! On the evening of Feb. 12th, the Jewish holiday of Tu B'Shevat begins. On Feb. 14th, the Islamic holiday of Shab-e-barat begins. We also celebrate St. Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14th. The cold-cold weather accompanies our celebrations this week. Please check the “Weather” section for how PPS responds to inclement weather as we eye the weather app over the next few days.
Weather! We are keeping a close eye on the weather this week (The Weather Channel). I remain in regular contact with the transportation department, principals from schools at similar elevations, my director, and the communications department. The district will make the final call and notify families through Remind. All the links in this intro. are repeats from previous newsletters, including this link to how PPS responds to inclement weather….dress warm and check your phone early tomorrow for updates!
PPS Stands with LGBTQIA+ Students, their Families, Teachers, and Staff. Please read more here about how we work together to create safe, welcoming environments for all students within PPS.
Coyote Sighting Earlier this week a staff member noticed a coyote in the front parking lot (on the green median between parking and turnaround). Remain vigilant in your situational awareness while walking to or from school. Please read about some tips here from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Mark Your Calendar Learning EXPO & Science Fair scheduled for Thursday, April 24th, 5:30-7pm. Sign-up forms and packets go home with students on Wednesday, February 19th (digital copies available in next week's newsletter).
New PPS Bookmobile The scheduled bookmobile rollout for Saturday, February 15th has been delayed due to weather forecasts; reschedule notification at a later date: PPS are making literacy come alive with a Bookmobile packed with FREE books, fun activities, and a love for storytelling. We believe that every child deserves access to great books, and what better way to spark curiosity and imagination than by bringing books straight to the community?
