St Peter's Primary School
Friday 10th November 2023
God of Mercy and compassion, of grace and reconciliation,
Pour Your power upon all your children in the Middle East;
Israelis and Palestinians, Jewish, Muslim and Christian people.
Let hatred be turned into love, fear to trust, despair to hope,
oppression to freedom, occupation to liberation.
May violent encounters be replaced by loving embraces, and
peace and justice be experienced by all.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord,
Amen.
Message from the Principal
YEAR FIVE LEADERSHIP RETREAT - On Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 November, our Year 5 students thoroughly enjoyed a well organised two-day leadership retreat.
LEADERSHIP RETREAT - Day ONE - The Year 5s had Mr Mark Powell from CEWA as a guest speaker, who taught the students what a pilgrimage is and how the experience can make a difference in their lives. Miss H then led the students through a strengths session where they identified character strengths in each other and completed a survey looking into their own character strengths. We were looking to encapsulate this learning the next day at Lake Monger.
LEADERSHIP RETREAT - DAY TWO - The Year 5 students journeyed around Lake Monger on a Leadership Pilgrimage. The children participated in activities which focused on different leadership qualities, including inspiration from famous leaders and reflection on what leadership means to them. They played some lawn bowls and shared a delicious lunch before some reflection time back at school. The retreat days have provided an insightful and authentic opportunity for students to look inward and reflect on the responsibilities they undertake as leaders of our school in 2024.
A sincere thanks and gratitude to the P&F for providing the financial support for the Leadership Retreat and a huge thank you to the Year 5 teachers for their hard work in providing such a wholesome, authentic and reflective experience for our students.
STAFF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - On Friday 3 November, all staff participated in an
on-site professional development day. Our Education Assistants enjoyed a manual handling course by Bestwest Care, to best support them and our students in their active roles within our school. Our teachers spent the day analysing our student data for the 2023 school year. The whole staff enjoyed the afternoon delving into well-being, focusing on both staff and student well-being. Staff genuinely valued having the opportunity to work alongside each other to implement goals to support the long-term vision of our school.
KINDY 2024 PARENT INFORMATION EVENING - On Tuesday 14 November at 7pm, we invite all parents and caregivers of our Kindy students for 2024 to join us for our Parent Information Evening in the Library. This is an opportunity for parents to hear from leadership and the Kindy teachers about their childâs future journey at St Peterâs Primary School. Staff will discuss the academic, behaviour support, social and emotional programs at the school, as well as share tips to ensure a smooth transition at the start of the school year. We look forward to seeing some familiar faces on the evening, as well as welcoming new families into our community.
ANNUAL COMMUNITY MEETING - Our Annual Community Meeting for the Catholic School Advisory Council and P&F will be held at 6:30pm on Tuesday 21 November in the Library. At 5:30pm, prior to the commencement of the meeting we will thank all our parent volunteers with drinks and nibbles. Parent support and dedication are greatly appreciated and are fundamental for the success of our school. We hope you can join us to celebrate another wonderful year at St Peterâs Primary School!
REMEMBRANCE DAY - Today in assembly, we acknowledged and remembered the men and women who have died or suffered in all wars, conflicts and peace keeping operations. An invitation to commemorate this has been extended to families on Saturday 11 November 2023 at 10am at the Mount Lawley War Memorial - Corner of Clifton and Queens Crescents.
CAR PARK RAFFLE - This week every family from Kindy to Year Five received a packet of ten raffle tickets. We invite families to purchase a raffle ticket/s for one car park space available in the staff car park outside the Administration block for 2024. ANGELINE HO - TWO BLUE - Angeline, when we thought of a Person of the Week from 2B, you immediately came to mind. You live St Peter's TRUE values in every interaction you have with both students and teachers.
Your thoughtful actions embody all the school values. Angeline, you are a caring friend to all. You are inclusive and ensure that you treat everyone with kindness. You are responsible and trustworthy and can always be counted on to make the right choice. You are always looking for ways to be helpful and when you see something that needs to be done, you don't wait to be asked but go about doing it.
You are giving of your time and support and do it without fuss or wanting a reward. You have an inner light that we all see shining daily. You relish a challenge and are diligent and task focused, and complete work that is always to the best of your ability. Angeline, we have loved seeing you quietly go about living the St Peter's values and you truly deserve to be awarded the Junior Person of the Week.
CHLOE BRIGHT - SIX WHITE - Chloe, you have displayed unwavering Trust, Respect, Unity and Excellence throughout every facet of your life here at school, and your influence does not go unnoticed.
Trust is a precious quality, and your peers and teachers have complete faith in your words and actions. Your reliability and consistency in upholding the values of this school are truly commendable. Respect is not just a word; it's a way of life for you. You treat every individual with kindness, empathy, and understanding. Your actions teach us that respect is not just given; it's earned through compassion and genuine care for others. Unity is a cornerstone of our school community, and you exemplify it. Your ability to bring people together, regardless of their differences, is something that genuinely makes our community stronger. Excellence is not just about achieving high grades but about dedicating yourself to being the best you can be. Your consistent pursuit of personal excellence is an inspiration to us all. You give your best in every task, whether it's helping a classmate, contributing to a project, or excelling in your own work.
You are a beacon of positivity, a friend to all, and an embodiment of our school's values. By living the Gospel values each day, you reflect the teachings of Jesus and make this school a better place. Chloe, you remind us of the kind of person we all aspire to be. GATe News
On Wednesday 1st November, the Year 5 & 6 GATe students visited Scitech. The students took part in solving the CSI Heist in the Scitech lab, spent some time on the Scitech floor interacting with their new exhibit of âHuman Potentialâ and viewed âWe are Aliensâ in the planetarium.
They also viewed the show 'Power Trip' which demonstrated the different types of energy we use from our world.
We would like to extend a BIG thanks to our wonderful parents for coming along on our day out. Thanks to Cate Fiumano, Luke Toh and Ivy How Kim Kam!

Congratulations
In GATe, all students entered the âDesign An Adâ competition for The West Australian. They looked at what makes an advertisement appealing and applied different advertising techniques to the advert they created. From the 9 companies who sponsored the competition, the students could choose one company to design the ad for. Students had to adhere to the design brief that the company set. Congratulations to Adele Toh in Year 5 for being one of four winners across the state for her advertisement for the company âAct, Belong, Commit â Mentally Healthy WA.â Adele wins a gift card prize of $100! Well done Adele!
