The UE Library has lost an unusually high number of books this year due to damage from leaky water bottles. Please remind your child/children to keep water bottles in the bottle holder of the backpack. If there is no bottle holder on the backpack, the water bottle should be kept in a separate compartment from the library book. The use of leak proof water bottles would be most appreciated and a good preventative to avoiding a book replacement bill.

The Citadel Heart of Learning Award recognizes teachers throughout Greater Philadelphia who make a difference in our community, support students beyond the call of duty, and encourage full potential. Winners receive $500 and a glass heart award, and three lucky Grand Prize Winners receive an additional $1,500.

Teachers can be nominated by present and former students, parents, administrators, coworkers, school employees, and members of the community HERE The nomination deadline is January 15, 2022

Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union Foundation is proud to recognize outstanding and dedicated teachers in our region. Recipients of this award receive $1,000 towards classroom expenses and a commemorative keepsake. The recipient’s school also receives a $1,000 award.

Young Rembrandts Winter club is now open for registration!

The club runs from 1/4/2022 until 3/15/2022 on Tuesdays from 3:45 PM to 4:45 PM.

You can make a difference this fall! As a coach for Girls on the Run, you will build confidence and inner strength in 3rd-5th grade girls who need you. Contact danicameverett@gmail.com

* Running experience is not required to coach. We are the only national physical activity-based, positive youth development program for girls with compelling evidence of program impact. Much of what we do lends itself to teaching and modeling social-emotional life skills.

*10 week season beginning the week of February 28 and ending with our 5K Celebration on Saturday, May 21. Location TBD.

* Coaches meet twice a week for 90 minutes. Days and times are determined by school availability and volunteer schedules.

* Team ratio is 3 coaches:16 girls. Children of our volunteers are always admitted. Otherwise, registration is done through a lottery system. Girls on the Run is open to girls in grades 3-5. Financial aid is always available. We never turn anyone away who needs financial assistance.

* Coaches are fully trained and given all materials and curriculum. Our staff also works closely with volunteers all season long to ensure a fun, successful experience for all.

*Coaches receive a discount on program registration for their children.

*Our teacher coaches can earn up to 45 hours of Act 48 credit for coaching an entire season.
