π Message from the Principal π
It's CAASSP Testing Week!!! That means this whole week, the only focus students have is to try their best on the state tests each day! Due to testing, students will be released at 1:15pm each day this week. CAASSP Testing gives us a great pulse of where our students are in their learning journey. This will help us to gear our funding towards supporting students where they need it most. Parents, we hope that you will help us with encouraging your child to do their best!
There will be no homework, no projects, no tests, etc. from their other classes, but it would be a great idea to use the extra time to catch up on missing assignments!!
Please note: There will be no after-school tutoring this week, but instead, we are offering students an opportunity to do tardy clearance after school Monday through Thursday from 1:20-2:20pm. Attending one session will clear 4 tardies, so if you attend all 4 days, you can clear up to 16 tardies. Please take advantage of this opportunity to clear up your attendance!
Let's make it a great week, Vikings!
Volleyball and Football Season has come to an end!
I would like to give a shout out to all of our volleyball and football athletes as their season closed up this past Saturday. This season, we were able to field teams for Girls Varsity Volleyball, Girls JV Volleyball, Boys Volleyball, Girls Flag Football, and Boys Flag Football!! π€ It was so awesome to watch you all work so hard this season and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for you, as well as our athletic programs. Even though the season might not have ended the way you wanted it, hold your heads high with the knowledge that you tried your best and it gives you something to look forward to achieving next year! Go Vikings!
Congrats to MVA's Track star, William Moreland! π₯
William had another successful weekend this past Saturday at the MSAL Track meet. He earned first place honors in the 400m dash, 2nd place in the 200m dash, and 3rd place in the 100m dash. Great job, William!! We are so proud!! Keep it up!!π€

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week!! π
Coming up, May 6th through 10th is Teacher Appreciation Week! Our Viking teachers strive to do their best to support our students, so it's time to show them how much you appreciate them! Students will receive letter templates this week during Advisory so they can write a letter of appreciation to their favorite teachers! In addition, if you'd like to do something additional to show them how grateful you are, consider bringing them their favorite snack, drink, flowers, a gift card to their favorite lunch spot or coffee shop, or any other items your heart desires. Let's shower our MVA teachers with some love next week, Vikings!!!

Save the Dates for Summer School 2024!!
As mentioned all year, current 7th graders must pass all classes in 7th and 8th grade in order to walk in the promotion ceremony as an 8th grader. Any 7th graders who failed a class last semester or are currently failing a class this semester, will be notified about attending summer school in June. This is an opportunity to recover some of the credits that you failed so you can start off 8th grade on the right track. Counselors will be reaching out this week to those 7th graders needing to attend.
Please note: Summer School is not open to current 8th graders as they were given opportunities this semester to make-up failed classes via credit recovery. Students who did not take advantage of those opportunities and/or who are currently failing a semester 2 class, will not be able to participate in the promotion ceremony.
π 2024-2025 Registration now OPEN!! π
