Come to Learn, Leave to Transform
We are excited to extend a heartfelt invitation to another year of enlightening and transformative opportunities focused on addressing educational systems of inequity. **Please note that the series launch date has been changed, and will now take place virtually from 4:00-5:30 p.m. on October 29th, 2024.
For the 2024-25 series, we are excited to announce that Dr. Muhammad Khalifa will be joining us for the culminating, in person session. Throughout the year, our learning will be grounded in his book, Culturally Responsive School Leadership. Participants who register for the full series will receive a copy of the book upon registering.
The CRSL framework is based upon four pillars. The culturally responsive leader:
- Critically self-reflects on leadership behaviors
- Develops culturally responsive teachers
- Promotes culturally responsive/Inclusive school environments
- Engages students, parents, and indigenous contexts
Intended Audience
- Any educators who wish to examine their beliefs and district practices and are passionate about advocating for equitable systems.
- Building and district leaders
- School counselors
Dates
October 29, 2024 - Virtual Session
- 4:00-5:30pm on Zoom
- Focus: Introduction to the Culturally Responsive School Leadership Framework by Dr. Muhammad Khalifa. Together, we will develop an understanding of critical current issues impacting public education and educators.
December 10, 2024 - Virtual Session
- 4:00-5:30pm on Zoom
- Focus: Strengthening Family Engagement and Creating Authentic Partnerships
- 4:00-5:30pm on Zoom
- Focus: Critical Self Reflection
- 4:00-5:30pm on Zoom
- Focus: Culturally Responsive Teacher Development
- 1:00-4:00pm at Oakland Schools: 2111 Pontiac Lake Road, Waterford, MI 48328
- **Culminating Event! Dr. Muhammad Khalifa, author of Culturally Responsive School Leadership. will join us to engage participants in planning forward.
Registration
Option 1: Register for full series
Cost: $30
This registration covers your attendance at both virtual events and our culminating in person event with Dr. Muhammad Khalifa. In county registrants will receive a copy of his book upon registration; out of county registrants may pick up their copy or receive it at the in person event on May 29th.
Option 2: Virtual only events
Cost: Free
Register below on Zoom to join virtual events only. You may select individual dates. This registration option does not include a copy of the book. It is recommended that you acquire a copy of the book to supplement the experience, but it is not required.
SCECHs and SW-CEHs
Continuing education credits are available for participation in this series!
SCECHs & SW-CEHs (Social Work)
You can earn up to 9 SCECHs/SW-CEHs for this series for each session you attend (free of cost!) All continuing education credits will be processed at the conclusion of the entire series (after May 29, 2025).
