Doolen Monthly 24-09

Dear Doolen Families,

I hope you all enjoyed the Labor Day Weekend with your families! Usually, it is after Labor Day/September that we go into full throttle in our work to educate your students academically, socially, and emotionally, now that we have gotten to know them all a little better in the classrooms. This is why Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled during this month.

We invite all our families to come in for these conferences on September 18th and 19th. Classes will be released early on these days with all students released at 12: 50 pm (after lunch). All students are to go home, the Boys and Girls Club, or to meet with their parents/guardians to attend conferences. Conferences begin both of these days at 1 pm. The difference between the days is as follows:

Wednesday September 18th Parent Teacher Conferences are from 1 pm to 4 pm. They are open to all on a walk-in basis. Students cannot meet with teachers without a parent /guardian present. These will be held in the library and cafeteria depending on the grade level/content type.

Thursday, September 19th - Parent Teacher Conferences are from 1 pm to 7:45 pm. We do stop for a dinner break in between. These conferences are by appointment only and meeting with the entire team. Please contact our front office/counselors/MTSS coordinator to discuss a scheduled appointment time.

Friday, September 20th - Students and Staff have early release and school will close at 1 pm for everyone. Thank you for your understanding.

This is also a great time to remind you that Wednesday, September 25th is the first Benchmark Exam day for all students. Students will need to bring their laptops and chargers on this day for the exam. If students do not come to school on this date or come late, then students will be pulled out of classes in the following days to make up those exams. Thank you for your understanding!

Tuesday - September 3rd - Magee @ Doolen Volleyball and Basketball. 5 pm.

Thursday - September 5th - Gate Booster Meeting 5:30 pm

Friday - September 6th - Hearing and Vision Testing for 7th graders, Eligibility Check for Athletes, Doolen @ Alice Vail Volleyball and Basketball - 5 pm.

Saturday - September 7th - Cross Country - Reid Park 8 am.

Thursday, September 12th - Site Council 4 pm, Family Engagement, PTO 5:30 pm. Library and via zoom

Friday, September 13th - Doolen @ Naylor - Basketball and Volleyball

Wednesday, September 18th - Early Dismissal - Parent Teacher Conference 1-4 (no appt necessary)

Thursday, September 19th - Early Dismissal - Parent Teacher Conferences 1-7:45 pm (by appt only)

Friday, September 20th - Early Dismissal for all

Wednesday September 25th - Benchmark 1 Exams. Exam Schedule.

Thursday, September 26th - 5:30 pm GATE Booster Meeting - room 9

Monday September 30th - Thursday - October 3rd - Spirit Week. Last Week of Quarter 1.

Monday- Monochromatic Day

Tuesday- Twin day

Wednesday-Sports day

Thursday- Swap Day (teachers dress like students and students dress like teachers).

Friday, October 4th - No School - Grading Day, Quarter 1 Ending.

October 7- October 11th - Fall Break - No School
