A Message from Mrs. Hall
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are excited to inform you about a new initiative at Field Elementary that will benefit our students’ overall school experience. This year, we are introducing the "Zones of Regulation" across all grade levels. The Zones of Regulation is a framework and a district approved curriculum designed to help students gain skills in the area of self-regulation. By understanding and managing their emotions, students can be better prepared for learning and interacting positively with their peers.
Purpose of the "Zones of Regulation"
The Zones of Regulation helps students identify and categorize their emotions into four color-coded zones:
Blue Zone: When a student feels sad, tired, sick, or bored.
Green Zone: When a student feels happy, calm, focused, and ready to learn.
Yellow Zone: When a student feels excited, anxious, or has a higher level of energy.
Red Zone: When a student feels overly excited, angry, out of control, or extremely upset.
By recognizing which zone they are in, students can use specific strategies to either maintain their state (if in the Green Zone) or move to a more optimal zone for learning and interacting (if in another zone).
Benefits of the "Zones of Regulation"
Teaching students how to manage their emotions has numerous benefits, including:
Improved Focus: Students who can identify and manage their emotions are better able to concentrate on their work, which leads to a more productive learning environment.
Enhanced Problem-Solving Skills: By learning to regulate their emotions, students become more adept at handling challenges and resolving conflicts.
Positive Interactions: The Zones of Regulation fosters a more supportive classroom environment, where students can express their emotions appropriately and interact with their peers in a positive way.
Enhancing Student Access to Learning
When students are aware of their emotions and have tools to manage them, they are better equipped to participate fully in class activities. Whether it’s staying focused during a lesson, working in groups, or handling the ups and downs of the school day, the Zones of Regulation helps students remain in the optimal state of mind for learning. This initiative aligns with our goal of creating a supportive environment where all students can "Soar above" and reach their full potential.
We encourage you to discuss the Zones of Regulation with your child and support them in applying these strategies at home as well. Your involvement is crucial in reinforcing these skills, which will benefit your child both in and out of school.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education.
Sincerely,
Michelle Hall
From Ms. Fairfield

Pick Up Reminders
Parents please make sure that you are staying in your cars. Please make sure that your students names are visible on your car tag. If your students are walkers please make sure they tell their teachers. If they walk home or walk across Adobe at a cross walk to meet you please remind them of that.
Student ID Badges
Parents,
Thank you so much for supporting us as we roll out our new Mesa Schools badge procedures. At Field, we want to ensure we are making this transition as smooth as possible for families.
Starting Monday, 8/12, teachers will have templates for temporary badges for students. These badges will still scan for lunch and library services. These badges are important for daily activities, and we are closely tracking any losses.
If your child misplaces his/her badge, your child will receive a reminder note home on the day they use a temporary and we will contact you on the 2nd and 4th occurrence. On the 4th occurrence, if the badge is lost, a replacement badge will need to be purchased at the cost of $3.00 per badge.
Additionally, students have been requesting if they can bring their own lanyards. As long as the lanyard is school appropriate and has a breakaway clasp, these will be permitted.
Thank you for helping us ensure that this system runs smoothly!
