Happy Summer!
Good Afternoon Highland Families,
The end of the school year typically brings with it a wide-range of emotions, and this year was no exception. On Wednesday, we dedicated Highland's new outdoor learning space, The Wallace Learning Grove, in honor of our beloved Mrs. Wallace. It was great to see so many current and former Highland families at the dedication. We are grateful that the Wallace Learning Grove will be a beautiful learning space for our Highland students and staff for many years to come, and know that Mrs. Wallace would love it.
This week we also took time to celebrate the 6th grade class of 2025! It was wonderful to hear all of our 6th graders favorite Highland memories at our May All-School Meeting, have the annual 6th grade luncheon, and see all of our 6th graders walk across the Highland stage during 6th grade promotion. Congratulations to our entire 6th grade class, and good luck in middle school and beyond!
I am very proud of all of the hard work that our Huskies have done this entire year. This year seemed to go by exceptionally quickly, but that did not diminish all of the great things that our Huskies accomplished and great moments we shared.
This summer is an extra-long summer due to major construction projects across the district and I hope everyone is able to seize this opportunity to relax, recharge, and reconnect with those that you love. The Highland main office will remain open until June 6th, so if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the Highland main office at 630-719-5835.
Take care and have a great summer!
My Best,
Zac Craft

Planning for the 2025-2026 School Year
District 58 is nearing the end of the registration process. Thank you to the families that have completed the process. Having accurate registration numbers is essential for determining the number of sections at our school. At this time, our tentative sections and teachers for next year are as follows:
K- Mrs. Doty & Mrs. Roche
1- Mrs. Sabatino & Mrs. Springer
2- Mrs. Kehoe & Mrs. Walters
3- Mrs. Cottrell & Mrs. Musial
4- Mrs. Costello & Mrs. Roegner
5- Ms. Gaudio, Mrs. Nagle, & Mrs. Padilla
6- Mrs. Dunlap & Mrs. Varys
Please note that sections for next year are still ultimately tentative. The reason for this is that things can change over the summer if students move out, move in, or if the State of Illinois or the Federal Government changes the amount of revenue our District will receive. Final sections are always shared by the principal in August. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Kane County Cougars Games
The Highland PTA hopes that anyone that was able to attend the Cougars games during our two Highland Game Days on May 10 and May 18 had a wonderful time at the ballpark.
If you were unable to attend, It's not too late to enjoy Summer fun at the ballpark!
Any order forms not redeemed yet can still be used for any remaining May home game (Thurs. May 28 through Sat. May 31) as well as for any Sunday through Wednesday home game between June 1 and September 1!
Once you attend your first Cougars game in 2025, each child that participated in the reading program will receive a Golden Ticket, which is redeemable thereafter for two free reserved seat tickets to any and as many games in June-September that you wish to attend. It's the reward that keeps on rewarding your child throughout the summer!
To use your order form on any alternative date outlined above, you will need to bring your order form to the ballpark on your desired game date, or call the Kane County Cougars at 630-232-8811 for mail-in options. Please note that online orders are not available with this alternative redemption option.
If there are any questions, please contact Paul Quillia at paulquillia@gmail.com. Paul previously worked for the Cougars, and can be very helpful with any ticket-related questions.
Congratulations to all of our students. We hope you enjoy your rewards throughout the Summer!
End of the Year Party
The party on Sunday was another great End of Year event! Thanks to Suzanne Mraz, her committee and all of the volunteers for a great way to end the year!
Field Day
Field Day may have been a bit damp and chilly, but it was awesome as always! Thanks to Mandy Waughop, Mr. Winter, and all of the volunteers who help make Field Day so much fun! And thanks to our special lovely volunteers- a grandmother and a rising college sophomore- who both stepped in to volunteer on this fun day!
Friendly Reminder from Mr. Tony

Personal Electronic/Technology Devices Policy in DG58
It is amazing how far technology has come over the last decade and continues to advance. We recognize the value technology has not just in education, but our world. However, we hope that we can work together to remind students that during the school day, personal electronic devices should be turned off or silenced and out of sight. This includes wearable devices if they become distracting to the learning environment. Students should not be using phones, Apple Watches, or other devices to send or receive text messages or phone calls during the school day.
