Week of November 18, 2024

Greetings Poynter Families!
As we approach Thanksgiving next week, it's a wonderful time to reflect on what we are grateful for. At school, we are thankful for the opportunity to serve this amazing community. This season reminds us of the importance of kindness, appreciation, and the little things that make a big difference in our lives.
As we get into the busy holiday season, we also want to remind students to come to school prepared. Please make sure your child has all the necessary supplies, especially a charged Chromebook, pencils, and notebooks. Being prepared helps students stay focused and organized. A quick check the night before can go a long way in ensuring a successful school day. We appreciate your support in helping students come to school prepared.
Finally, we are working on clarifying and articulating our vision for Poynter Middle School. Please look at the announcement, below, to see how you can help contribute to this work. It should only take a few minutes and your voice will be helpful in this work.

A Vision For Poynter
Throughout this year, we are working on clarifying our vision for Poynter Middle School. We have worked with staff and students to pinpoint what values should help shape that mission but we would like some information from our families as well. Please take a moment to fill out this survey and answer the question: "Which four values do you believe should guide our school’s culture, decisions, and actions as we work together in the future?" The survey will remain open through the end of the month.

Perfumes, Colognes, and Body Sprays
Please ask your children to leave these items at home. There are members of our community that are allergic or have asthma that can be triggered by the sprays. They also have caused some distraction as students choose to spray each other. We appreciate your help!
November 25 & 26: Conferences
Students will not have school the week of November 25th. That week we have professional development, conferences, and Thanksgiving. We will have drop-in conferences November 25th from 4:30pm-8:00pm and then again November 26 from 8:00am-11:30 am. There is no appointment needed for these drop-in conferences and will give you an opportunity to get a quick update on how your student is doing.
