We are writing to inform you that the soft lockdown in Hawthorn District 73 schools has

been lifted.

This morning, at 9:57 AM, our schools entered a soft lockdown as advised by the Vernon Hills Police Department due to police activity in the area. This measure was out of an abundance of caution, and was taken to ensure the safety of our students and staff. At this time, the Vernon Hills Police Department has confirmed that it is safe for us to lift the soft lockdown.

We appreciate the quick response of law enforcement and our school community, as well

as the support and partnership of our Hawthorn District 73 families. We will continue to

work with the Vernon Hills Police Department to ensure the safety of all students and

staff.
