Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.
September 27, 2024
It has been a soggy week for us here at the Lab, but we've kept things bright inside our walls!
This week marks the halfway point, or interim, of the First Marking Period of the school year. Today you should have received both an Attendance Summary and email about attendance expectations as well as a note from BCPS as a system encouraging you to check on your child's progress in Schoology.
This month (Sept 15 - Oct 15) we are also celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at Lutherville. Attached to the Newsletter you'll find a resource created by Ms. Alabi, our Equity Liaison, that outlines some information about Hispanic Heritage month, ways to celebrate, and books we're reading here at school in recognition.
Have a wonderful weekend. If you scroll down far enough in the forecast, sunny days are ahead! :)
In partnership,
-Mr. McComb

Fall Family Night - October 8th!
Fall Family Night is just one week from this Tuesday, on October 8th. The anchor session for our Fall Family Night is a Cultural Fair in the gym! This is an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful diversity that makes Lutherville Lab such a special community featuring 28 different home languages and 93 students whose families have a primary home language other than, or in addition to English! We are seeking families who would like to display and share some of their family's cultural roots. We welcome returning families to continue to share and welcome new families to share as well! If you'd like to sign up or have questions, please reach out ot Shaimaa Hussein at shimaahussien86@gmail.com.
We are excited for a jam-packed event, featuring some new activities and established staples:
- Recorder performance
- Jazzercise
- Green School Scavenger Hunt
- Volunteer Certification Station
- Calming Strategies and Activities
- Math & Reading Fluency Activities
- Face Painting

Respiratory Infection Guidance
Please see the guidance below from the Office of Health Services:
Students and staff who develop a respiratory infection (e.g., fever with cough, sore throat, and/or runny nose) should stay home until the fever is gone for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication and their symptoms are improving.
Health officials recommend that people with respiratory infections consult with their health care provider. Testing for COVID-19 and/or influenza is recommended for persons who are at higher risk for severe disease who might benefit from antiviral treatment and for those who have anticipated close contact for persons at higher risk for severe disease.
Persons returning to school and work after a respiratory infection are encouraged to use additional prevention strategies such as maintaining physical distance from others and wearing a mask for give (5) days.
