Glenn School Eagle Post
April 2024
Superintendent's Nest 📝
Welcome to Spring in Michigan! One day it is warm and sunny and the next it is raining, snowing or a mix of precipitation. Flowers started to bloom even though the warm weather tricked them into blooming just a little too early.
I hope you have time to read, play, and relax during Spring Break. Heading to the library is a great way to check out some new or old books, magazines and other materials to have on hand during break and also all the other days of the year! Thank you parents for encouraging your child to read every day. Modeling reading in front of your child/children helps to instill habits in them, even if it is a newspaper or magazine. Remember, Readers are Leaders!
Students continue to receive a book monthly to grow their home libraries. I purchase these books with donations from individuals and also the American Legion in South Haven donated funds. Thank you to all those who donated! I truly hope students are enjoying the books they get to keep and read. In March we were grateful for volunteers coming in to read to the students as Mystery Readers. The volunteers included over 40 parents, grandparents, state representatives (past & present), school board members, and community members. We enjoyed hearing them read different books and I do not think we ever heard one more than once. We even got to guess what each of their jobs were. Thank you to everyone who made March an extraordinary month!
Sincerely,
Jamie Walle

Outdoor Learning🍃
Haiku hikes are always fun
Playing out in the warm, wet
Seeing water cold and wet
I don't want to be done yet
Water, cattails, thorns
Geese, birds, water flowing, frogs
Wet grass, mud, prickers
Water rippling
Geese honking, flapping wings, fly
Soft sun warms our backs
Outstanding People for Education 🍎
Congratulations to all the influential educators we have that are making a difference in the lives of the students that attend Glenn School. This year we had seven of our awesome staff nominated for this award presented by Allegan County School Board Association by our parents, students, and other staff members.
Our nominees are Ms. Parkhill, Miss Larabel, Ms. Cook, Ms. Walle, Mrs. Bain, Miss Proper, and Ms. Cate. Winners will be announced after Spring Break!
Celebrating Reading Month 📚
We had a large variety of mystery readers who read books to our students. We also celebrated with fun dress up days.

Allegan County Community Foundation Funds 🏫
We hold three fundraising accounts with ACCF.
Our newest fund is to provide scholarships for former Glenn Students that are graduating high school. The goal is to gift two seniors a $500 scholarship every year.
We also have endowed and nonendowed funds that we can use to contribute to the operations of our school and some special projects and improvements.
