TCS News to Know
For the Week of January 6, 2025
Dear Families,
Welcome back and happy 2025!!! We hope that everyone had a wonderful vacation and holiday season! Our return today marks the beginning of the second semester. This is a great time for you and your student to set some new goals. Make sure that the goals are realistic and attainable. Write these goals down and then help your student identify changes in behaviors that are needed to reach these goals. Too often, we talk about the desired end result, but not all of the little steps needed to get there. Identifying the little things that can be done daily will help a student experience success and be motivated to continue. We are excited for all that 2025 has to bring!
Christmas Fun!
On the last day of school before Christmas break, there were lots of fun things happening all around Tekonsha Community Schools...class parties in the elementary, Reindeer Games in the high school, and the Jammie Jam middle school dance! And most importantly of all, a special visit from Santa Claus himself, with a special gift of a Christmas book for every student! Special thank you to Corey Wooden for being such a great Santa!
Report Cards
All grades from the first semester are now final and report cards will be printed and mailed out this week! Remember that all grades can be checked regularly using the Skyward Parent Portal. If you do not have access to your Skyward Parent Portal, please contact the office at 517-767-4121 ext. 100 to get set up!
Thank you to all of the Santas in Tekonsha!

- In Memory of Jane Grigsby
- Melvin Blackwell
- J & J

A Christmas Carol
On Thursday, December 19th, right before break, 5th grade students in Mrs. Sayles's class and 6th grade students in Mrs. Butler's class put on a reader's theater performance of the Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. The students did such a great job, we wanted to make sure everyone had a chance to see it!
T-Town Tech is back in action!
The Tekonsha robotics team, T-Town Tech (#9215), had their kick-off for the 2025 build season on Saturday, January 4 at Marshall High School. The team, along with teams from the area, watched a live-stream shown around the world to unveil the challenge for this year's competitions. They were then able to pick up their kit and officially begin their build season! The students will compete on February 28 at Battle Creek Central High School and again on March 21 at Mason High School. The team is also looking for team sponsorships. Businesses or individuals can be a sponsor of the team. Fill out the sponsor form below and return by Feb. 1st to be included in any of the promotional materials.
Attendance Matters
Attendance is very important to a student's academic success. Please remember that if your student is not able to attend school for any reason, it is important that you call the school to let the office know.
Attendance is important, but we also recognize that during this time of year, there is a lot of illness going around. If your student is running a fever, please keep them home. If you are not sure if you should keep your child home, you can reference the Student Health Screener below. It is important that you call the school to let us know that your child is home sick.
Free Dental Care Coming to Tekonsha!
Smiles on Wheels is a FREE children's dental hygiene program that offers dental assessments, cleanings, education, sealants, and fluoride treatments to ALL students K-12 at NO COST. In order to have your child participate, simply return the consent form that is being sent home this week (or download a copy at the link below). This service is being provided as part of the SEAL Michigan grant program through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Even if your child has insurance and regularly sees the dentist, you can use this free program to have sealant put on your child's teeth. Be sure to return your consent form no later than Monday, January 20th to your child's building secretary.
Student Council Cat Rescue Collections!
The Tekonsha High School Student Council spent the month of December challenging classes in the elementary and MS/HS to collect food and supplies to a local cause - Waid's Cat Rescue! Tons of supplies were donated, and the winning class was the 1st grade! Thank you to Mrs. Layne-Fouty and the entire student council for coordinating this activity!
