Washington-Caldwell Parent Update
Week of April 21, 2025
No School - Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21
Message from our Principal
Hello Bulldog Families,
Student surveys are a vital tool for improving the educational experience, as they give students a voice in shaping their learning environment. By sharing honest feedback, students help teachers and administrators understand what’s working well and what areas need improvement. This input can lead to more engaging lessons, better support services, and a stronger connection between students and staff. Ultimately, student surveys promote a culture of openness and collaboration, where everyone plays a part in creating a positive and effective school community.
As part of our Continuous Improvement approach, we will be giving our students in grades 3-8 the opportunity to complete a student survey. The student survey is part of our Culture and Climate work through feedback from staff, students and parents. You will find a few examples of some of the survey questions below.
Which activities in the classroom do you enjoy the most?
Given a chance, what is one change that you would like to see?
Does your teacher encourage you to perform better?
My teacher likes and cares about me.
I feel safe at school.
We are planning to conduct the survey here at school within the next two weeks. If you have any questions, please contact me directly.
Sincerely,
Kevin

WashCald Lost & Found
WashCald School Garden
Many classrooms at Washington Caldwell have been starting early-spring vegetable plants in the classrooms. We hope to transplant these vegetables into our school garden later in April, hopefully to harvest some before the end of school.
To make our school garden soil even more enriched, please consider taking some soil or compost from your home garden and dumping it into our school garden. You can do this at any time! Then, please take a photo (group photos please) of you and your kids adding the soil to our garden, and we will post these photos to the Washington Caldwell Facebook page. Our eighth-grade students will then till all the soil in preparation for the transplanting. Middle school students will assist the younger students as they plant their classroom plants into the garden.
Please let Mr. Thompson know if you have any questions.
