Wrestling Competes at State Championship
Hewitt-Trussville Wrestling completed competition Saturday at the AHSAA State Championship in Huntsville. The Huskies finished in 8th place in the 7A division. A total of seven HT athletes advanced to compete in the State Championship.
Logan Reaves had the highest finish as he placed 2nd in the 138lb weight class. Reaves fell on Saturday in the championship match after he went undefeated on Friday.
Hunter Jones won the consolation final in the 160lb division. On Saturday, he defeated Chris Congress of Bob Jones by the score of 7-4. Jones won a total of three matches over the course of the weekend.
Chris Weaver finished 4th in the 113lb class. Weaver fell to the top seed in the opening round, but rallied to place 4th in his class.
Girls Soccer Beats Hoover in Home Opener
Hewitt-Trussville beat seventh-ranked Hoover 1-0 on Friday night as the Huskies hosted their first game of the season. Friday's game also marked the first win for Coach Lauren Wooten as head coach for the Huskies. The game against the Bucs was originally scheduled for early in the week, but was moved to Friday night due to weather. The Huskies and Bucs played a scoreless first half in cold conditions. Hewitt-Trussville would score the only goal of the match with 32 minutes left. Taylor Doss found the back of the net off an assist from Sarah Mezrano. The Huskies' defense held tough for the remainder of the game to secure the win.

Boys Soccer Wins a Pair at Lakeshore
Hewitt-Trussville Boys Soccer competed in the highest division this weekend at the 2020 Lakeshore Shootout. The Huskies finished the event with a 2-1 record after they defeated Lake Oconee (GA) 4-1 on Saturday. Lake Oconee scored the first goal of the match, but the Huskies responded with four consecutive goals. Teague Edwards scored the first HT goal to tie the game. Daniel Cosby then gave the Huskies the lead as he scored off an assist from Bailey Harris.
Later, Parker Briggs scored off a corner from Bailey Harris. Finally, Landon Surratt scored off a cross from Seth Walker.
On Friday night, Hewitt-Trussville topped Albertville 2-0. The Huskies first scored when Landon Surratt found the back of the net off an assist from Jacob Crow. Later in the game, the Huskies got some breathing room as Cooper McCombs scored off an assist from Seth Hall.
The Huskies will be at home for the pair of games this week. HT will host Woodlawn on Wednesday and Stanhope Elmore on Thursday. Be sure to follow www.hthuskies.com all season for Boys Soccer news and results.
Baseball Opens Season with a Shutout Win
The 2020 Baseball season began on Saturday and Hewitt-Trussville opened the season in style. The Huskies went on the road and defeated Calera 11-0. Skylar Jones picked up the win on the mound as he tossed five innings and did not give up a run. Jones struck out six Calera batters. Tyler Mauldin was a home run shy of the cycle as he had a single, double and triple in five innings of play. Mauldin also scored three runs. Trey Burrell, Hudson Boren and Gavin Ellison all had a double at the plate. Jackson Holland had two hits. Keith Lanum and Michael Fowler both scored two runs.

Girls Golf Beats Vestavia in Season Opener
Hewitt-Trussville Girls Golf battled wet and cold conditions on Thursday during the first match of the season. The Huskies persevered for a 19 shot victory over Vestavia Hills. The final team score was 135-154. The match was held at Vestavia CC. 7th Grader Molly Davidson had the low round of the match as she carded a 39.
The Huskies will travel to Ol' Colony Golf Club in Tuscaloosa for a tournament on February 20. Follow www.hthuskies.com all season for Girls Golf news and results.
Boys Golf Wins First Tournament
Hewitt-Trussville Boys Golf had an impressive showing Monday at the Presidents Day Invitational at Limestone Springs. The Huskies shot one over par as a team to win the team championship. Monday's event marked the first tournament for Coach Steve Patrick. Junior Cole Davidson fired a six under par round of 66 to win the individual title as well. Davidson had matching nine hole scores of 33 on each side.
Ethan Hacker shot a 34 on the front nine and finished the day with a one under par round of 71. Stuart Dickson also shot a 34 on the front nine as he ended the day with a round of 73. Austin Freeman was the fourth Husky to factor in the team score as he shot a 79.
The Huskies will be off until next weekend as they prepare to travel to Auburn for the Joe King Memorial Tournament.
Softball 2020 Schedule
Hewitt-Trussville Softball, the 2019 7A State Champions, will open the 2020 season on February 20 when they visit Central Phenix City. The Huskies will play at home for the first time on March 5 when they play host to Mortimer Jordan. Coach Taylor Burt's team will play in numerous tournaments throughout the season.
The Huskies will also play in two college facilities this season. On March 9, HT will play James Clemens at UAB. On March 11, the Huskies will play Pisgah at Jacksonville State University.
Area play will begin on March 12 when the Huskies travel to Mountain Brook. Area home games will be played on April 6 (Mountain Brook) April 7 (Spain Park) and April 13 (Vestavia)

Outdoor Track 2020 Schedule
The 2020 Outdoor Track season will begin on February 27 when the Huskies travel to Mountain Brook for the Battle Royale. The Huskies will host the 7-Way Meet on March 5 and the Hewitt-Trussville Invitational April 17-18. The AHSAA State Championships will be held April 30-May 2 in Gulf Shores.

Student Athletic Pass Pickup Information
In an effort to increase our fan base and make game attendance more affordable, Student Athletic Passes will be available for the second time ever for the 2019-2020 school year. Every student in the district (K-12) will have the opportunity to have their own personalized athletic pass card. With this pass, students will be able to enter ALL HTMS and HTHS home regular season sporting events. The pass is $20 and can be purchased during registration as an item on the activity sheet.

Q. What is the purpose of the Student Athletic Pass?
A. The Student Athletic Pass will be available to ALL students in the district (K-12). Our goal is to make it easier and more affordable for students to attend Hewitt-Trussville sporting events.
Q. What can I attend with this pass?
A. Students that have their pass can enter ALL HTMS and HTHS home regular season sporting events. Every sport! For the entire 2019-2020 school year!
Q. How much does this pass cost?
A. The Student Athletic Pass is $20
Q. How do I purchase a Student Athletic Pass?
A. Passes are available at all five TCS schools and can be purchased through registration
Q. Do students with a Student Athletic Pass still need to buy a ticket?
A. No. The Student Athletic Pass is good for admission to ALL HTMS and HTHS regular season home games. Tickets will need to be purchased for playoff games only.
MS Softball Opens Season
HTMS Softball opened the 2020 season in impressive fashion as they defeated Springville 8-4 on Monday night. Kate Hicks pitched a complete game for the Huskies. Hicks only gave up three hits and she struck out 14 batters. Olivia Faggard had three hits for the HT offense and Zaylen Tucker had two hits.
The Huskies will play again on Wednesday as they travel to Oak Mountain.
MS Football Parent Meeting
Attention Parents: If your student wishes to play 7th Grade or 8th Grade Football for the Fall 2020 season please make plans to attend our parent meeting. It will take place in the HTMS Auditorium on Monday February 24 at 6:00pm. We ask that each student has a parent attend.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) requires all student-athletes to complete eligibility paperwork each year. For the second year, this process will be done online rather than in paper copy. Any student, wishing to participate in athletics, that will be in grades 7-12 for the 2019-2020 school year will be required to complete this process. Please follow the instructions below to complete these forms for the 2019-2020 school year. Students’ forms for 2019-2020 need to be 100% complete as soon as possible. This is for AHSAA sanctioned sports only.
