Greetings, Hosmer Families,
What a wonderful concert we had this past Wednesday!! It was a full house for sure! Some pictures are below.
As we move into this week before the break, please do your best to maintain as much normalcy in your schedules for kids. It is a busy time for everyone and we know that students benefit from maintaining routines - especially those around sleep and eating. At school, we will certainly have a little fun, but we will be following a regular schedule for teaching and learning.
Lost & Found
Earlier this week, one of our kindergarten students mentioned something about the "Hosmer Store". He was talking about the overflowing Lost & Found! We've folded and organized everything, which many of you saw if you attended the holiday concert. Please look at the pictures below and visit the main lobby to claim items. Everything will be bundled for donation next Wednesday, December 18th.
As we sorted the items, very few were labeled. PLEASE label jackets, sweatshirts, etc, so that they are more easily returned.
No Chorus Next Week!
The Hosmer Chrous is not meeting next week OR the week we return from break. Chorus will resume on January 7th.
Shift in Nursing Staffing
Our School Nurse, Mikayla McIntyre, will be leaving us after the holiday break. Nurse Mikayla is preparing for a new chapter in her career as she works toward completing her Doctorate in Nursing Practice and becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Please join us in welcoming Gabriella Sabatino, (our current District Float Nurse who many of you have met) who will assume the position of Hosmer Nurse. She can be reached directly at Gabriella.Sabatino@watertown.k12.ma.us.
January Assessments
When we return to school in January, students will take a variety of mid-year assessments. These help us see student growth and plan intentional teaching and intervention to address areas for needed growth. Two of these assessments, DIBELS and the Math Numeracy Screener, are administered 1:1 with the teacher working directly with the students. iReady math and reading are computer-based. We will administer iReady across the school on January 15th and 16th.
Our multilingual students who work with English Second Language teachers will take the four-part state-mandated ACCESS test. This test assesses speaking, listening, reading, and writing. It will be administered from January 7-13. Please make sure students are in school and on time on these important days.
No Idling of Vehicles
A reminder that cars should not be idling (parked but still running) for more than five minutes. If you arrive early for pick-up, please turn off your vehicle. Watertown limits idling to 5 minutes for health and environmental reasons.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our wonderful school and community.
With a grateful heart,
Ms. Moulton, Principal
