Miners in the Middle
October 27, 2024
Week of October 28th - November 1st
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we move into the final stretch of October, we have several important events to share with you.
8th Grade Reality Check
This Wednesday, October 30, our 8th graders will participate in the Reality Check at the Southeast EXPO Center. We will leave school around 11:45 and return by 2:45. Reality Check provides students a “real life” financial glimpse into adulthood. They’ll choose a career, receive a salary, and visit booths to budget for expenses such as housing, insurance, utilities, transportation, meals, and more. This is a fantastic, hands-on opportunity to experience financial decision-making in an interactive way. Here’s the schedule for the day:
- 12:30 p.m. – Welcome and Instructions
- 12:45 p.m. – Housing overview (Whole Group)
- 1:00 p.m. – Students visit remaining booths
- 2:00 p.m. – Budget review and debrief
- 2:15 p.m. – Dismiss
Please try to avoid scheduling appointments during this time. If your child needs to remain at school instead of attending the event, please contact us to make those arrangements.
Red Ribbon Week Continues!
We are in the final days of Red Ribbon Week® 2024, and we encourage all students to join us in the dress-up days (must meet school dress code except for hats on hat days), contests, and activities. Last Friday, students participated in a Healthy Living Assembly led by the Choctaw Nation Healthy Youth Program, reinforcing the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. While our students engage in meaningful activities and discussions here at school, we encourage you to continue the conversation at home.
School Picture Retakes
Retakes will be this Thursday, Oct. 31st, for anyone who missed pictures the first time.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We look forward to a great week ahead!
Sincerely,
Nicole Green
Principal

Classroom Expectations
These are our school-wide expectations for our students. Positive behavior fosters an environment where ALL students can learn and grow. It is our hope that our HMS families will discuss our school-wide behavior expectations and encourage positive behaviors at school and home.
Common Areas Expectations
Our school-wide expectations extend beyond the classroom. It is important that students also realize they are accountable for their behaviors in the hallway, cafeteria and at all school sponsored activities on and off campus.
