Viking Newsletter 11/22/24
Justin Zunino, STHS Principal
GOOD AFTERNOON, VIKINGS!
As Thanksgiving approaches, I want to express my gratitude for the community we’re building at South Tahoe High School. Our dedicated faculty and staff work tirelessly to foster a positive and supportive learning environment. Our amazing students bring unique perspectives, diverse backgrounds, exceptional talents, and inspiring achievements, enriching our school every day. Together with our supportive parents, we’re creating a vibrant and thriving learning community.
I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy quality time with friends and family during this holiday season.
The STHS Winter Festival is just around the corner on 12/7 and 12/8! And on Friday, 12/6, we'll have lots of "littles" here from our elementary schools to tour the spectacle and participate in some fun and games!
The Wellness Center will be open next week from 8:00 to 4:00, Monday through Wednesday. See links below for more information and upcoming opportunities for December and January.

STHS Womens Seminar - S Club
On Tuesday, November 19th, the S-Club sponsored a Women’s Seminar, which was organized by STHS Senior and S-Club President, Deia Steinmetz, where nine professional women from our community came to share information about their careers and the pathways they took to find their chosen fields. The event began with each professional introducing themselves with a brief description of what field they work in. After the introductions, students walked around and asked questions to each professional such as:
What do you wish you knew at my age?
What does your day-to-day look like?
What is your least favorite thing about your job?
If you had the opportunity, would you do it again? If not, what would you change?
What was the biggest challenge you faced in your career?
Those who attended gained new information about career opportunities from these women who have been working and succeeding in some amazing careers. Thank you to Savannah Fraijo, Rebecca Bryson, Andrea Solis, Alyssa Andres, Alexis Holmes, Helene Bourdu, Traci Trapani, Paula Peterson, and Allison Steinmetz for coming in and sharing your experiences with our students.
LTCC Math Club Tutoring
The LTCC math club has started its K-12 tutoring and we welcome all children from Kindergarten through 12th grade to come to the college to get help with their mathematics. The volunteer tutors will be in the Mezzanine, halfway up the main stairway, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Monday through Thursdays, except on Thanksgiving week and Veterans Day, until the week before finals. The children should bring their math to do and the math club volunteers will help them. There is no charge for this tutoring and no appointments are needed.
