Meet Our School Counselors
Sixth Grade: Ms. Marchese introduced herself to Team Gemini on Thursday, 8/29. She will be meeting with all the 6th grade students individually as well, so all students have a chance to personally meet her and know how to sign up to see her if they need.
Seventh Grade: Mrs. DeMichele re-introduced herself to Team Hydra on Wednesday, 8/28, reminding them who their school counselor is and how to sign up to see her if needed.
Eighth Grade: Mrs. DeMichele and Ms. Marchese re-introduced themselves to the 8th grade on 8/27, reminding them how to sign up to see them if needed.
This year, the counselors will continue working with all grades to enhance Career Exploration with SmartFutures activities that cover many career-related areas. More to come about that in future newsletters!

Nurse Information for North Middle School
Important Information for Sixth Grade Families
Dear 6th Grade Parents,
We still need many completed 6th grade physicals. Please have the physical form completed by your student’s doctor as soon as possible. Forms are available online on the Pennridge School District website under ‘Health Services’.
If your student’s doctor’s office has a patient portal you can sign up to go on the portal and print out the most recent physical as long as it was after 9/1/23. Please call the Nurse's office with any questions.
If possible, could you also provide a copy of your student's current immunization records.
Thank you to all those who have already completed and submitted the form to the school.
Important Information for Seventh Grade Families
Dear 7th Grade Parents,
The State of Pennsylvania mandates the completion of dental exams at varies times throughout the school years. Your 7th grade students will need their 7th grade dental completed. These were due before the start of the school year.
If your student has already had their dental, please contact their dentist to have the form completed. The nurse can collect these dated any time after 9/1/2023. Please go to Pennridge School District web site and under health service you can download and copy the private dental exam form or call the health room to have a form sent home with your student.
Additionally, for those who have not submitted a copy of 7th grade immunizations records for Tdap and MCV these are due by 9/3/2024.
Thank you if you have already handed this form into the health room.
Additionally ...
The nurse will be screening all 7th grade students during the school year for scoliosis. If you prefer that the screening not be completed on your student, please email the nurse at bcurtin@pennridge.org. Also, if your student has a diagnosis of scoliosis, let the nurse know because the screening does not need to be repeated.
Thanks,
Barbara Curtin, RN CSN
RAMS at North
PBIS and our RAMS
This year will be our second year implementing our RAMS program at North Middle School. It is a PBIS, short for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, program designed to reward good behavior for our students by catching them at their best. When observed doing a good deed or following the rules, students will earn a ticket and can place it on our RAMS 100 board. Every time the board is filled, ten students will be selected at random to receive a prize of their choice .The tickets remaining are pulled and put into our "Second Chance Drawing" bin for other opportunities throughout the year. Our acronym to remember our good behavior is RAMS -- be Respectful, Accountable, Motivated, and Safe. Ask you child about our kickoff assembly from the first day of school!
A Perfect Audience!
Who was our RAMS this year?
Our RAMS 100 Board is off to a great start!

What is the CDT?
CDT -- Classroom Diagnostic Tools
CDT assessments are sets of on-line diagnostic assessments designed to provide information to guide instruction in order to support intervention and enrichment. These assessments are administered throughout the year and analyzed in grade level teams with Curriculum Supervisors, building principals, and teachers to help inform instruction. The district builds a testing window into the assessment calendar, and each grade level and building designs their schedule based on their calendar. This year the assessment will be given in Science (SCI). This assessment provides specific and timely feedback designed to support student learning. They are also part of your child's data profile used later in the year for the course recommendation process. Please encourage your child to try their best!
Canvas Learning Management Software
What is Canvas?
Canvas is a Learning Management System utilized by Pennridge School District in the secondary schools. If your child is in sixth grade, Canvas will be new to them. Each grade level has been set up with their own Class of ... course in Canvas. This course will have announcements, links to information, and important dates for the students will appear on their Canvas calendar through their grade-level specific course. In addition to this course, their teachers will have courses and share assignments, notes, and important information for their content via Canvas. Encourage your child to check Canvas regularly, especially if they are absent!
Main Office Reminders
If you are coming to North to pick up your child for an Early Dismissal -- either for an appointment or because the nurse has called and they are sick -- please remember to bring your photo identification. Photo ID is required to enter the building as well as sign out a student.
