BOOTH HILL SCHOOL

Principal's Message
👋 Dear Booth Hill Families,
Please click HERE for our updated Booth Hill Family Handbook. This will be your "go to" site for questions regarding Booth Hill. Please check back periodically as updates will occur. You will see just from the Staff Directory section that not all of the staff and pictures are posted yet. The beauty of a website for a handbook is that updates are less disruptive and confusing for families. I will be sure to draw your attention to significant changes.
REMINDER:
Conferences: If you have not done so already, please be sure to sign up for a conference time to meet with your child's teacher. The link closes on Thursday, October 10th. Click below to assist you in scheduling your time. Conferences are on October 22 or 24, as well as November 7.
Best,
Mr. Chase

Referendum
On September 25th at 7PM, the town of Trumbull will partner with the district to provide a presentation regarding the proposed new Hillcrest Middle School. The presentation will take place in the Hillcrest cafetorium, and community members will also have an opportunity to tour our building. As you begin to think about how you will vote on Election Day, please consider the following:
- Hillcrest Middle School currently does not have a sprinkler system, and is the only building in the school district without any fire suppression system;
- Hillcrest Middle School is currently approximately 80 students over capacity, with at least another 25 students projected to enroll in the upcoming school years;
- Special legislation was passed by the state legislature that increases the reimbursement rate from 24% to 44% for only this upcoming election. This decreases the overall cost of the project from $142,375,000 to $79,730,000.
- This project is the first step in a plan to address all buildings in the district.
Please spread the word to have as many people as possible attend this critical event.

Thank you for coming out to share in the fun to support THS Football! It was another great showing of our Booth Hill school spirit!
School Attendance
As a school community, we continually strive to promote regular attendance at Booth Hill. We welcome and appreciate open communication between school and home; therefore, please reach out if you need assistance with getting your child to school each day and in a timely fashion. Parent and school partnerships enable us to best support our students to ensure success at school.
"Chronically absent is defined as "a child who accumulated a total number of absences at any time during the school year that is equal to or greater than ten percent (10%) of the total number of days that such student has been enrolled at the school during the school year."
Please refer to board policy 5113.1 on our website for more information. https://www.trumbullps.org/board-of-education/policy

CHET Dream Big! Competition
K-12 students in Connecticut have the opportunity to enter the Competition and be awarded a scholarship of up to $20,000 to help pay for their future education! This competition is brought to you by the Connecticut State Treasurer’s Office as Trustee of the Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET).
This year, they will be awarding almost $350,000 in CHET 529 College Savings Plan – Direct Plan (“CHET 529 Direct Plan”) account contributions to students in grades K-12 and technology prizes to schools. For the winning students, we will be awarding:
- Three prizes of $20,000
- 24 prizes of $5,000
- 239 prizes of $500
To enter, students are asked to answer a question by submitting a drawing or painting, essay, or video. Younger students will be asked to answer a question focusing on lessons they’ve learned and their dreams for the future, and older students will be asked about an experience or person that has impacted them and how that will influence their future goals. Submissions must be uploaded by 11:59 p.m. on November 4. There is no cost to enter. For program details, rules and the entry process, visit: www.chetdreambig.com
Downloadable entry forms and flyers are available on the website as well.
A school in your district could be a winner too! Each school that is represented by at least one student’s entry will be eligible for a random drawing for a technology prize worth $5,000 (a total of 10 schools will win a technology prize). Please see the 2024 Competition Official Rules for more information on prize structure and awards.
