What's Happening in our Class!
Dear G5 Families,
Learning This Past Week
Language Arts: We continue to read "My Teacher is an Alien" and practice comparing and contrasting, finding the main idea from readings, and constructing summaries. We also learned more suffixes, specifically -ed, endings. In addition, they learned to use context clues to find meaning, and explored the 3 tiers of vocabulary. Everyday, academic, and technical language. Please continue to have students read 35 minutes a night and complete their reading log.
Social Studies: Students continued to learn about the Native Americans and Their Land. They took what they learned about migration routes, origin stories, and how the Native Americans adapted to their environments, and created powerpoint presentations to share their knowledge.
Math: Dividing Whole Numbers
In our math classes, students delved into the concept of dividing whole numbers to create fraction quotients. They demonstrated their understanding through problem-solving and engaging discussions.
STEM with Interlake Juniors
We were thrilled to welcome former Cherry Crest students Anjana and Anvika, who are now Interlake Juniors, to lead a STEM activity with our students. They guided our learners through an engaging challenge: to design and build a Rube Goldberg machine to get Luigi to the Rainbow Bridge with the help of Mario.
