From stop motion animation to film discussion, media literacy, digital citizenship and and makerspaces, the school and public librarians who completed the Media Smart Libraries badge certification program, have learned a lot and are ready to share their experiences and ideas with colleagues. Participants will come away inspired by the stories of these library leaders that will not only provide how-to information, resources, and new programming ideas, but allow plenty of time for audience Q&A. Come hear for yourself that it is not as hard as you might think to implement digital and media literacy activities into your library!

Please join OLIS, the LORI Resource Sharing Working Group and your colleagues from around the state for a day-long program where all aspirations will be considered and all practicalities reexamined.

The morning portion will feature keynote speaker Marshall Breeding, founder and editor of Library Technology Guides, editor of Smart Libraries Newsletter for ALA TechSource, author of Cloud Computing for Libraries, former Director for Innovative Technology and Research at Vanderbilt University Library, and many other professional accomplishments that make him a sought-after presenter on library issues.

Marshall Breeding will rejoin us in the afternoon, along with featured guests from the Rhode Island library community, for an open discussion of how Rhode Island librarians can hold onto our resource sharing aspirations while being pulled in the opposite direction by the practical demands of resource sharing.

Coffee/tea and light refreshments will be served. Lunch is not provided but is available on the Bryant campus.

Are those library materials safe and secure? Get answers to your questions by attending the Open House.

Join OLIS and Optima Shipping Systems representatives at the Providence sorting and distribution center. The center is the base for LORI Library Delivery sorting and distribution. This event will allow all attendees the opportunity to view the sort facility and see the sort process in action.
