Principal's Message:
Greetings Forest Park Students and Families,
Happy New Year - Happy New Year! It is wonderful to be back in school after a nice winter break. Smiles and New Year's greetings abounded this Monday! At this point in 2025, we will have been in school for nearly 80 days. This week we hosted educators from schools and the district to observe iReady and Wit & Wisdom lessons, and we held a successful blood drive! We look forward to report cards in the coming weeks, the Learning EXPO/Science Fair starting in a month, the after-school musical (Shrek), and many other exciting events throughout the winter and spring. Tomorrow, 1/9/25 marks a National Day of Mourning for the passing of former President Jimmy Carter.
Blood Drive 01/08/25 - Thank you Dave Genel (you might know his work on our reader-board) for organizing today's Blood Drive. Thank you blood donors for life-saving donations!
US News & World Report - See Forest Park Elementary School’s rankings and other information here: tiny.one/yckhn3zd Reading this report, I feel such a sense of pride in the work our students and teachers do each day, supported by all of our non-classroom staff. We have an amazing school and community, and our efforts show through the smiles on everyone’s faces and reports like this!
Science Fair - Thursday, April 24th, 2025. Put a reminder in your calendar for this exciting event! More details to come closer to the time.
National day of mourning for President Jimmy Carter on Thursday, January 9th and in observance we will be flying our Forest Park school flag at half staff for 30 days from the date of his passing on December 29th. President Joe Biden declared January 9 as a day of mourning in an executive order – the same day as the official state funeral at the Washington National Cathedral. The US postal service will suspend regular operations on January 9. As part of the executive order, all federal departments and agencies will be closed. But some vital employees for national defense and security may still be working that day.
Volunteers - Thank you to all our amazing volunteers who support our school! Your time and dedication make a huge difference in the lives of our students. We are always looking for more volunteers to join us in various activities and events throughout the year, including help with lunch and recess duty. If you're interested in volunteering, please be sure to complete your PPS background check. If you're unsure whether your background check is still valid, feel free to contact the office to check its expiry date MYerton@pps.net or SGleeson@pps.net. We appreciate your commitment to making our school a better place for all!

Symptom Based Exclusion Chart- MESD provided this chart as a guideline when determining to stay home or go to school. We post and refer to this as I know that every teacher and staff member, myself included, wants all students at school on time everyday. And once in a while, our bodies tell us to rest and recover.
