Monroe Elementary News

It has been a great week at Monroe Elementary! One of the highlights of the week was the JAHS marching band visiting Monroe. Our students enjoyed getting to see the high school students. Maybe some of them will even play in the band someday! I have added some pictures below when the band was at Monroe.

This week we also had our fall Map testing. We will be giving the Map test three times a year: fall, winter, and spring. Students took the Math, Reading, and Reading Fluency tests this week. We use Map scores to assist us in determining student academic growth and how we can intervene with students to help them grow as well as challenge their thinking. Your child's Map score report will be coming home soon. If you would like to learn more about Map scores and the reports, please plan to attend a parent meeting at Monroe Elementary on Tuesday, September 20th at 6:30. This will also be a time that you can ask questions about your child's report.

Reminder: There is no school on Monday due to Labor Day. Enjoy the long weekend!

School fees are $30 for the 2022-2023 school year. Fees are due by September 30, 2022.

There is no longer free breakfasts and lunches for all students. Final Forms contains free and reduced lunch applications for those that qualify. Money can be added to lunch accounts by sending cash or a check to school with your child. Checks should be made payable to Monroe Elementary Cafeteria. You can also add money to lunch accounts by using a credit card through MyPayments Plus. MyPaymentsPlus does charge a convenience fee for credit card usage. Positive Parenting Program (Triple P)

Raising children isn’t always easy. Would you like to feel less stressed and feel confident that you are raising happy, confident kids?

The Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) is designed to help parents set their own goals, become confident in their ability to manage parenting issues, and become self-sufficient problem solvers. This program is for parents and caregivers of children 0 to 12 years old and helps parents manage behavior and address problem behaviors. Perhaps it’s your toddler’s supermarket meltdowns… or nightly bedtime battles with your daughter… or your son’s disobedience or aggression. We give tips on how to settle the problem – quickly and calmly!

We won’t tell you how to parent. But we will give you simple, practical strategies you can adapt to suit your family’s values, beliefs and needs. Because we know happier families lead to better relationships… and successful kids! Sign up for small group discussions or one-on-one parenting support by phone on a wide variety of topics for parents and caregivers of young children, including:
