Dear FCVS Families,

Exciting Updates to Our Schedule for the 2026 School Year!

Starting next school year, FCVS will enhance its learning model with a new weekly schedule, for full-time enrolments, designed to provide more structured support and flexibility for our students. Key highlights include:

• Two synchronous meetings per week for each course, scheduled between 7:40 AM and 2:10 PM, to enhance direct instruction, peer interaction, and alignment with FCPS high school hours.
• Continued emphasis on flexible, asynchronous learning during non-synchronous days to allow students to manage their time effectively while meeting deadlines.
• Daily support with course material, scheduling one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions, and joining instructor office hours daily (Mon-Fri).
• This schedule alignment enables students to seamlessly participate in other FCPS programs such as:
• Career and Technology Center (CTC)
• Academy for the Fine Arts (AFA)
• Dual Enrollment courses
• Internships and Work Study opportunities
• Pursuit of personal interests or extracurricular activities

We believe these changes will provide students with a balanced, comprehensive educational experience, allowing them to personalize their learning pathways and explore their unique goals.

If you plan to continue as a full-time Frederick County Virtual School student next year, you will need to complete the application for FCVS Full-time Enrollment. A message from FCPS will be sent to all FCPS students/families in grades 8-12 tomorrow, January 10, 2025. Applications will be due by February 7, 2025.
