Did you know the Strike Band Hall is open for any band student to practice? Band students are encouraged to practice daily but sometimes schedules at home will just be busy! That's why we welcome students to practice before or after school. We have the band hall open at 8:30 (when students can come in the building!) and until at least 5 pm every day. We do ask that students let us know ahead of time, if they are going to stay after school since we sometimes have responsibilities that may keep us from supervising or helping students.

What should practice at home look like? How often should it happen? How can I help my student when I was never in band?

I know many of you are looking at summer vacations now, so please reference the camp calendar to help plan when students will start rehearsals.

We have begun meeting to design next year's show and we are excited at the direction that we are headed!!

As members of the Little Elm HS band and guard program, we would like to remind you that attendance is required of ALL members. We begin learning our body and marching fundamentals the week of July 25th in addition to music sectionals. With school starting one week earlier this next school year, it is imperative that we hit the ground running on July 25th. Please note that percussion, guard and leadership start the week of July 18th.

I have also attached a calendar for October, which is affectionately referred to as BANDTOBER. Do NOT schedule family events, trips, etc on any Saturday in October as there will be a contest EVERY Saturday in October. In addition, the week of October 10th we WILL be rehearsing that week as UIL Region Marching Contest will be on October 15.

Attached you will find the *TENTATIVE* Summer Band Calendar, a letter for Incoming 9th grade parents/students and the October band calendar. We will have an updated summer band calendar for parents at our Spring meeting on April 22nd. Please send this information to all of your current 8th grade parents/students.

On March 30, the Strike Honor Band will attend their UIL Concert & Sight Reading Evaluation at McKinney North High School. The itinerary for the trip is below and we are sending home permission slips today. Parents are welcome to attend the performance. See info below for location and times.

March 30, 2022

7:15- Arrive at band hall. Enter through the bus lane door! (Eat breakfast before you get to school, please!)

7:35- Leave for McKinney North High School

8:10- Unload equipment and prep for warm up.

8:55- Warm-up

9:30- Concert portion of evaluation

10:00- Sight Reading portion of evaluation

11:00- Back on campus & unload

Students need to wear their band uniform to school (black dress pants, gray band polo, black shoes and belt.) Please look your best! This is the real deal!!!

Parents are welcome to attend this concert and sight reading process! The address for McKinney North is: 2550 Wilmeth Rd, McKinney, TX 75071.

Enter through the McKinney North auditorium entrance. You may record the concert portion of the evaluation but cell phones are NOT allowed on in the sight reading room. We would love to have a good audience to perform for!
