🐺 Weekly Howl 🐺
We were so happy to welcome our Wolves back after a restful week off! They did a fantastic job jumping into their final week of iReady, and we are just two weeks away from CAASPP testing. Please note, May 12 is the week of CAASPP testing. Students are released at 12:30 every day that week.
Students should have come home today with a flyer about Summer Enrichment through the District. Please see below for more information about this opportunity as well as one for Career Technical Education from ROP for our current 7th graders.
Next week are excited to welcome all of our Wolfpack families to Open House on Thursday, May 1 from 5-7 pm. Our teachers will be gathered throughout campus to show off student work, play games, and share their content knowledge with you. PTSA is hosting multiple fundraisers, selling Porky's Pizza and other snacks as well as a silent auction. If you know any families who will be attending our school next year, please share this news with them - we'd love to meet them! Please note, that school will release at 12:30 on Friday, May 2.
For our 8th grade families, there are two events just for you next week! Freshman Welcome Days are happening for AHS and EBA (see flyers below). SLz families, your night will be May 22. Also, we are carrying on our tradition of the 8th grade panoramic on May 2nd during 6th period. Please check your email for more information.
Finally, we cannot let this week's message close without a hearty thank you to our PTSA who absolutely spoiled Ms. Nikita, Ms. Kelly, and Ms. Karen on Wednesday, bringing lunch and goodies for Administrative Professionals Day. We really do have some of the best here at Washington Manor. - they are the engine of the school and work magic in the front offices!
Have a great weekend, Wolves!
💉 TDap 💉
As your child prepares to enter 7th grade, we want to remind you of an important requirement for school attendance. In accordance with California state law, all students entering 7th grade must provide proof of receiving the Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis) immunization before the start of school.
Please submit proof of your child's Tdap vaccination to the school as soon as possible. Without this documentation, your child will not be able to begin 7th grade on the first day of school.
For information on uploading documents to Aeries, please click here for English Instructions. If you cannot upload your documents, you may send in a hard copy with your student, or email a copy to Ms. Fogle in the AP Office. Similarly, if you have any questions, or need assistance, please contact Ms. Fogle (kfogle@slzusd.org | (510) 317-5512).
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community healthy and safe.

for our families with students with special needs
The California Department of Education (CDE) is asking for your feedback to help improve special education services across the state. As part of this effort, families of students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) are invited to complete the Special Education Parent Involvement Survey.
This survey is designed to gather valuable input from parents and guardians about their experiences with the special education process. Your voice matters, and your feedback will help guide our ongoing work to strengthen programs and supports for students with disabilities.
We kindly ask all parents of students with IEPs to complete this survey as soon as possible. The more responses we receive, the better we can understand how to improve services and support for students and families in our district.
The survey can be completed online or by using a printed copy, which can be filled out and mailed. Additionally, we encourage staff to share this survey with families during IEP meetings or whenever Procedural Safeguards are provided.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Together, we can ensure every student has access to high-quality services that meet their individual needs.
Below you will find the link to the online survey, as well as printable versions if needed:

🏫 Immigration Resources and Support 🏫
In the San Lorenzo Unified School District, we seek to ensure that every family feels safe, supported, and valued. We recognize that some families may have concerns about immigration-related issues, including potential deportation. Please see the District webpage (SLzUSD Immigration Resources and Support) provide information, resources, and practical tips to help protect your family and stay informed.
Immediate action for our all of our families regardless of status:
Please Update Emergency Contact Information at Schools
It’s important to include a variety of trusted adults who are authorized to pick up your child in case you are unable to. These individuals should:
- Be readily available in case of emergencies.
- Have reliable transportation to and from school.
- Be someone your child knows and with whom they are comfortable.
📣 Campus Reminders 📣
- At Washington Manor, we are committed to promoting healthy eating habits and physical activity for our young wolves. Recently, we have noticed students selling snacks and candies on campus. We would like to remind everyone that selling food items on school grounds is not allowed. Parents and guardians, please take a moment to encourage your child to make healthier snack choices and to remind them that selling food at school is prohibited.
Please remember that Washington Manor hosts cell phone free classes. During class times we ask that students turn off their cell phones, so that they can focus on learning. Please call our main office at 510-317-5501 to get a message to your student.

Attendance Protocols
REPORTING/VERIFYING ABSENCES
Caregivers may excuse absences by calling the Attendance Line: 510-317-5599. Families have 72 hours to clear absences. If an absence is not cleared within 72 hours, the absence will no longer be excused. Only parents/guardians can excuse absences.
ATTENDANCE LINE
When excusing an absence, families should call and leave a message on the Attendance Line: 510-317-5599. When leaving a message please state the student's name or ID #, the reason for the absence, and the name of the parent/guardian calling.
ABSENCE ERRORS
If you receive a call, email, or text about a student's absence that you believe to be in error, please have the student see Ms. Kelly in the Main Office within 72 hours of the recorded absence.
Important Learning to be done!
In our efforts to curb tardies, we continue to enforce the following rules in order to promote an effective learning environment:
- 10/10 Rule: Students will not be allowed out of class in the first and last ten minutes of class. This is to ensure that they are getting set up for success, have the opportunity to write in their planner, and complete warm up activities. The last ten minutes ensure they get the homework and any last minute announcements.
- Teacher Dismisses the Class, Not the Bell: Students are often anxious to get out to break and transition into their new classes. Students need to remain seated until their teacher dismisses them. This will have the added safety benefit of reducing the number of false fire alarms as students have less access to the pull stations.
- Hall Passes: When students leave the classroom, they are required to have a current hall pass that marks the time they left and the location to which they are going.
While these are all procedures WMMS staff are working together to implement, reviewing them with your student will be very helpful. We thank you for your support.
