A Message from the Principals
Hello Pine Brook Families,
We are excited to be piloting a new special program called IGNITE! This special is designed to foster a love for technology in elementary students through engaging, hands-on activities.
Our Mission is to ignite a passion for computer science in elementary students by providing a playful and creative learning environment. We empower them to become the future generation of innovators and engineers who will shape the world of technology.
Our Vision is a world where all elementary students have the opportunity to become confident and enthusiastic users and creators of technology. Through our program, they will develop the computational thinking skills necessary to tackle challenges, design innovative solutions, and contribute meaningfully to a technology-driven future.
IGNITE will provide your child with opportunities to:
β Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills
β Explore the creative possibilities of technology
β Build a strong foundation in computer science concepts
β Collaborate with peers and learn from experienced educators
We believe that IGNITE will be a valuable addition to your child's education, helping them to develop essential skills for the 21st century.
Ask your Panther about what they have been up to in IGNITE this weekend!
Happy long weekend,
Andrea and Allie

β‘ IGNITE Udate β‘
This week in IGNITE we are working on our digital literacy and system design pillar. We will be exploring different strategies for troubleshooting technology when it doesn't work the way it is supposed to.
Our 2nd and 3rd grade students are learning to use Google Slides to effectively communicate knowledge about troubleshooting technology.
Next week the rest of the grade levels will dive into some other programs such as Google Docs and Google slides to communicate what they have learned!
Our Kindergarten group is starting to think algorithmically with pattern blocks and some early coding activities.
π€ One School, One Book: The Wild Robot π€
Chapters 1 -8
This weekend Panthers and their families should read chapters 1-8. While you are reading, discuss the following questions:
- How does the robot end up on teh island?
- How do the otters feelings about the robot parts change?
- What is the otters reaction to Roz?
- What does Roz learn from the crab?
We have attached an audio version of the first 5 chapters for your convenience! Happy reading!

π± Who to Call π±
Who to Call With Questions is a Resource for Families
Building trust and ensuring that there are open lines of communication between home and school are essential for student success. We want to be sure you know who to contact with questions or concerns. In December, the district shared a new resource for families. In case you missed it, this linked Who to Call with Questions, Concerns and Compliments reference guide is a step-by-step guide families can use to ensure questions are answered quickly and effectively. Please refer to it whenever you need to speak to someone about your childβs progress. Whether your inquiry is about academics, safety, or services and supports, there are people at the school and district level who are ready to help whenever a question or concern arises.
