Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences Recap
The staff at Beveridge Middle would like to express our sincere gratitude to the families who attended Parent-Teacher Conferences the week of March 4.
We had just over 45% over our students have at least one parent or guardian attend. We understand that attending parent-teacher conferences might not always be convenient for everyone, and we want to ensure that our school is as inclusive and accommodating as possible. We've reached out to families who did not attend to request their feedback in helping us identify areas for improvement so we can tailor our approach to better meet the needs of our diverse community. We've already received some great insight that we look forward to incorporating in future years.
If you were unable to attend, please feel free to reach out to your student's teachers at any time to discuss your child's progress.
We also want to thank the PTSA and the many volunteers who helped sponsor staff snacks on Wednesday and a delicious BBQ dinner on Thursday of conferences. Those are long days for our dedicated staff members, and those tasty treats were much appreciated!

Wrestling
Whoa Nelly, what a season the Bulldogs had on the mat!!! The Beveridge Wrestling Team finished runner up at the City Wrestling Tournament. This marks our best finish ever! There were 4 Bulldogs that claimed the title of City Champ. We also had 5 other individuals reach the podium. Among those individuals was Haid'n Bartunek. Haid'n finished as runner up and became the first female wrestler to ever medal at the city tournament for Beveridge. This team was a really special group that had a great combination of talent, determination, and comradery. The coaches are unbelievably proud of how they fought, sacrificed, and perservered all season long. These athletes are better for having wrestled and we are better for having them on our team. Thanks for a great year, Go Bulldogs!!!

Omaha Public School Inclement Weather Procedures
Our district works proactively to make the best decision possible when winter weather or emergencies require us to adjust our regular learning routines.
Our toolkit of alternatives includes the following options:
- Remote Learning Day
- School Closure (no remote learning, schools are closed and district offices remain open)
- District Closure (no remote learning, schools and district offices are closed)
- Late Start (two-hour delay)
- Early Release (two-hour early dismissal)
On a Remote Learning Day, teachers will contact students through email or Teams with independent learning activities by 8:30 a.m. Teachers will have virtual office hours from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. if students and families have questions or wish to visit with the teacher about their academic progress. Attendance will not be taken on Inclement Weather Remote Learning Days.
Whenever possible, our district will announce changes to a daily routine the night before. However, we know weather conditions and other emergencies can develop rapidly and a decision the morning of a school day may be necessary. When that happens, we will communicate as early as possible in the morning.
We will follow our communication routines. If weather, power outages or other circumstances force a change to our normal day, we will communicate directly with all staff and families. That communication will be through email, text message and phone call. Families should ensure their contact information is current in Infinite Campus. We will also share the information on our website and through local media.
This information can be found at: Weather Procedures / Weather Procedures (ops.org)
Accessing Parent Portal
This application allows parents and guardians to access information about ALL of their students through one convenient website.
This is a great way for you to see what assignments your student has turned in and what assignments they haven't turned in yet. You will also be able to see the specific grade your student earned for the assignment once the teacher has entered the grade for it. Please click on the attachment below for directions on accessing the Parent Portal. If you need any support with this, please contact our front office staff at 531-299-2280.
Partnering with the school and accessing the Parent Portal for your middle school student is important. Helping your student manage their time and their schoolwork is invaluable. Supporting your student with managing 9 classes, will be of great benefit as they transition to high school with excellent study habits and homework completion.
OPS Student Safety and Standard Response Protocol (SRP)
Omaha Public Schools Standard Response Protocol (SRP)
At Beveridge, safety is always our top priority. Our district has planned and prepared in case of an emergency. Just as a family may practice sheltering for severe weather at home, we teach students and staff across our district how to respond in a range of situations. Since August 2018, Omaha Public Schools has used the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). The SRP benefits students, staff and first responders because everyone uses the same language and definitions. The five options in the Standard Response Protocol are:
- Hold
- Secure
- Lockdown
- Evacuate
- Shelter Inside
Inside Beveridge, you will see posters that include the same information. At Beveridge, students routinely participate in drills or different possible emergencies. Students learn how to react, where to assemble and what to expect were it a real situation. We encourage families to review these procedures at home with their students. It may also be a good time to discuss safety plans at home. In case of a true emergency, is important that children memorize their address and phone numbers. In an emergency during school, communication will be sent out to families. Families should follow the instructions sent via email and automated phone call. In an emergency, we ask that families not call or visit the school until asked to do so.
During an emergency, staff will be focused on student safety and may not be available to answer phones or direct traffic. Access in and near a school may be blocked for emergency personnel.
